LayarHijau – A leaked breakdown of Chinese actress Ju Jingyi’s earnings has sparked widespread discussion online. The unverified data claims her total income has exceeded 50 million yuan, or roughly $7.3 million USD, highlighting the increasingly diverse revenue streams of modern entertainers.
The document outlines four major income categories, spanning acting projects, commercial endorsements, event appearances, and collaborations in fashion and media.
Drama Fees and Endorsements as Main Income Sources
In acting, drama salaries form the backbone of earnings. For the drama Veil of Shadows (月鳞绮纪), Ju Jingyi reportedly received 16 million yuan (~$2.3 million USD), immediately becoming one of the most discussed figures online.

Commercial partnerships and endorsements contribute even more. From brand collaborations, promotions, to annual ambassadorships, total earnings from this sector are said to surpass 20 million yuan (~$2.9 million USD).
Event appearances also add significantly. Ju Jingyi reportedly performs at galas, TV specials, and industry festivals, earning 300K–1.5M yuan (~$43K–$220K USD) per appearance.
Fashion magazine collaborations and other specialty activities further add millions of yuan to her income, representing hundreds of thousands of USD.
$300K for 3 Photos: Social Media Ads Grab Attention
A particularly eye-catching point is that a single social media post—including three photos—reportedly fetched 300K yuan (~$43K USD). Even collaborations with magazines could reportedly involve revenue sharing approaching 10 million yuan (~$1.45M USD), though these figures remain unverified and debated.

Industry Insider Reveals “Hidden Earnings” of Celebrities
Cheng Cheng, a source within China’s entertainment industry, explained that beyond main income, many celebrities have substantial “hidden earnings” often overlooked by the public. One common example is subtle product placement in social media content.
According to Cheng, posts that include brand products can earn tens to hundreds of thousands of yuan per post (~$14K–$145K USD). Top-tier celebrities can even command 600K–700K yuan (~$87K–$101K USD) for a single piece of content.
These placements aren’t always explicit ads. Celebrities often integrate products into everyday posts, including outfit photos, bags, cosmetics, unboxing videos, and airport street style shots. Notably, payment usually depends more on celebrity popularity and platform reach than on the number of photos included.
Cheng also noted that female celebrities tend to earn more from these hidden streams than male counterparts, due to a wider range of product categories and greater willingness to collaborate on promotional content.
Behind Red Carpets and Magazine Deals
Regarding red carpet events, Cheng stated that appearances generally carry no fee. Organizers typically cover only makeup and styling costs. In some cases, small private studios may inflate reported costs to pocket the difference, a practice more common among smaller agencies.
On the topic of magazine revenue sharing, Cheng clarified that while it exists, it is not widespread. Print magazines usually do not offer profit sharing, whereas digital publications may negotiate revenue splits with highly popular celebrities.
He even revealed that a rising male actor recently earned nearly 10 million yuan (~$1.45M USD) from magazine collaborations alone.
This phenomenon illustrates that as social media grows, celebrity income structures are becoming increasingly diverse. Seemingly ordinary sources of revenue carry substantial economic value, reflecting both the complexity of the modern entertainment industry and the need for careful oversight.
