LayarHijau – This year, Netflix is rolling out a range of original anime that’s capturing the attention of fans worldwide. Among them, Baki The Grappler has already made a dramatic return with Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai, and it’s clear that a follow-up season is more than warranted.
Musashi Miyamoto, the legendary samurai famed for his real-life duels, is revived in classic sci-fi fashion. A research facility creates a cloned body for him, while a spiritual medium restores his soul. All 13 episodes of the first season are now available to stream, yet the story ends on a cliffhanger that leaves fans eagerly awaiting a second season.
Throughout the season, Musashi dominates Baki and his allies in intense battles, easily dispatching several fighters before finally facing Yujiro Hanma, Baki’s father, also known as the Ogre. The fight comes to an abrupt halt due to Izo Motobe’s intervention. In a surprising twist, Motobe steps in to block Musashi’s attack and protect Yujiro, much to the Ogre’s frustration.
The season finale then shifts focus to a showdown between Motobe and Jack Hammer, Baki’s massive and formidable brother. Jack arrives aiming to challenge Musashi, but first he clashes with Motobe. This battle closes the first season’s arc, raising the stakes and making it clear that Musashi’s story is far from over.
With the first season ending on such a cliffhanger, a second season has yet to be confirmed. Musashi Miyamoto still has multiple critical arcs left unadapted, including the highly anticipated rematch with Baki. Even though Baki has earned the title of the world’s strongest creature, he has yet to defeat the legendary samurai, presenting a major challenge for the protagonist.
If Netflix decides to continue Baki-Dou, future episodes could feature the resurrection of a legendary sumo wrestler and follow Jack Hammer as he strives to reach the level of Baki and Yujiro. Given the anime’s success so far, adapting the entire manga for the screen seems like a strong possibility.
