In her statement, Jin Chen explained that at the time of the incident she was traveling with her manager and assistant in a rented car, which she was driving herself. While on the road, a dog suddenly darted out, prompting her to swerve abruptly to avoid it. The vehicle then crashed into a roadside warning sign and the wall of a nearby house.
Jin Chen emphasized that when the accident occurred, only the three of them were present at the scene, with no other parties involved. Due to the severity of her injuries, her manager immediately took her to the hospital for emergency treatment, where she underwent surgery. Her assistant, meanwhile, stayed behind to handle matters related to the accident.
However, amid the panic and emotional stress following the incident, an error occurred during the initial handling process. Jin Chen’s assistant reportedly told the police that he was the driver and proceeded to cooperate in completing the accident assessment. After regaining consciousness following surgery and learning about how the situation had been handled, Jin Chen stated that she believed she, as the actual driver, must bear full responsibility.
“As the actual driver, I must take full responsibility for this accident, including the improper handling that occurred afterward,” Jin Chen wrote in her statement.
As a result, she immediately instructed her assistant to contact the insurance company to withdraw the insurance claim. Jin Chen stated that all costs related to vehicle damage, roadside facilities, and the damaged house wall would be fully covered by her personally. According to her explanation, all compensation payments were completed in April 2025.
In closing, Jin Chen expressed deep remorse over the incident. She admitted that she had failed to set a good example as a public figure and felt ashamed for causing public concern and consuming social resources due to her personal actions. Jin Chen pledged to reflect seriously on the matter and promised to be more disciplined in obeying traffic regulations and more cautious in her conduct going forward.
