LayarHijau – The popular Chinese actor and star, Wang Yibo, is back on screen through the second season of the reality program Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo (探索新境), which recently aired. In this episode, he surprised the public with a frank admission that he has not been on set to film a new drama or movie for over 500 days. This statement immediately caused many fans to feel concerned and touched.
Wang Yibo began his career as an idol, then rose to prominence as an actor thanks to the success of the drama The Untamed alongside Xiao Zhan. He continued to cement his name through drama series like War of Faith, Being a Hero, and Luoyang, as well as big-screen projects like Born to Fly and Hidden Blade. In fact, during the period before he took his break, he maintained an extremely packed work schedule: four movies, two dramas, a permanent spot on a variety show, and more than ten advertising contracts. This schedule left him with almost no break.

However, since finishing the filming of the movie Intercross in July last year, he has not taken on any new acting projects. Intercross is currently his only work awaiting release.
During the broadcast of the second season of Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo, Wang Yibo spoke candidly for the first time about his personal condition. He explained that the decision not to film for 500 days was a response to feeling that he had worked too hard in the previous two years, and now he wants to regain a normal pace of life.
“The two years before, I worked so much. I started making changes. I told myself, I have to go out, I have to try more things, I have to go to nature. After finishing filming the first season, my mindset changed a lot. I feel this is the life I need,” he revealed.
In the first season, filming the reality show took over 20 months and involved Wang Yibo traversing tropical rainforests and climbing snow-capped peaks in Qinghai at altitudes of 4,000–5,000 meters. He even experienced symptoms of altitude sickness—his lips turning blue due to lack of oxygen—but persisted and completed the shoot. These extreme challenges earned public admiration for his commitment, leading to reports that several insurance companies refused to provide coverage due to the extremely high risks.
In the newly aired second season, Wang Yibo once again pushed his limits by flying to North America and engaging in rock climbing in a desert region. After completing one of the challenges, when asked if there had been a change in him, he reaffirmed his resolve to balance life and work.
Wang Yibo’s honesty about his private life has received widespread support. Some fans admitted feeling sad seeing him sitting alone and brooding, seemingly exhausted, during several major events. Now, they are proud to see their idol slowly rediscovering what makes him happy.
Fans hope this period of rest and exploration can be a new beginning—both for his mental health and his future career choices.
