LayarHijau – Chinese actress Peng Xiaoran is set to capture fans’ attention once again following her breakout role alongside Gong Jun in Blood River (暗河傳). Although her role as the Most Beautiful Woman Mu Yumo was smaller than Gong Jun’s, her delicate and natural acting, especially in the emotionally charged romance with Zhang Shian from rival factions, left audiences deeply moved and dramatically boosted her popularity. Now, Peng Xiaoran reunites with Ren Jialun in the upcoming costume drama Love and Crown (鳳凰台上), premiering tomorrow, November 14, at 7:30 PM on Youku. She plays a dual-faced empress, both a dignified queen and a skilled martial artist. Here are three things that make this drama exciting.
A Heart-Wrenching Imperial Romance
In Love and Crown, Peng Xiaoran portrays an empress with two sides: an elegant queen and a formidable warrior. Adapted from Xie Lou Nan’s novel My Queen, the story follows the daughter of a powerful minister who ascends the throne, able to rival the empress dowager, and is truly protected by the emperor (Ren Jialun). However, her tragic past makes it difficult for her to fully open her heart. Their relationship is filled with misunderstandings and political intrigue: she seeks revenge for the wrongful death of her master at the emperor’s hands but ends up trapped in enemy territory. The emperor fights to save her, yet faces a palace rebellion upon his return. The intense conflict and emotions create an unforgettable romantic chemistry.
