LayarHijau – Chinese actress Peng Xiaoran has addressed criticism that she has become too caught up in romance after publicly confirming her relationship with a man outside the entertainment industry. During a livestream, she said she is very cautious when choosing a partner and stressed that she does not depend on a boyfriend for a sense of security.
Peng Xiaoran recently made headlines after paparazzi photographed her with a man outside the entertainment industry on Qixi, China’s traditional Valentine’s Day. The two were reportedly seen returning to her residence after spending time together. Peng Xiaoran later openly acknowledged that she was in a relationship.

Her decision to make the relationship public sparked mixed reactions online. Some people sent their congratulations, while others expressed disappointment or chose to unfollow her. Some fans also worried that she was becoming too caught up in love and that her relationship might affect the pace of her career.

Peng Xiaoran addressed the controversy during a livestream on August 21, beginning by apologizing to fans who felt hurt or disappointed by her decision to go public.
She acknowledged that some fans might choose to leave, including those who decided to leave fan groups, and said she respected their choices.
“Whether you choose to say goodbye, leave the group or stay, I support you. I’m grateful for every bit of love you’ve given me,” Peng Xiaoran said.
She then directly responded to the criticism that she had become too caught up in romance.
“Guys, I’m nearly 40. When it comes to choosing a man, I’m definitely going to be very careful,” she said.
Peng Xiaoran explained that she is not the type of person who easily loses herself in a relationship. Instead, she said that growing older has made her more certain about what she wants from both life and a partner.
According to Peng Xiaoran, her ideal partner should be emotionally strong and capable of supporting and caring for her. She does not want a relationship in which she is expected to constantly compromise or sacrifice herself.
“My ideal partner has to have a strong heart, be able to support and care for me, rather than making me compromise or sacrifice,” she said.
She also explained that her career, love life, personal life, family and friends all have an important place in her life. She takes each of them seriously and believes she can approach them openly and honestly.
When it comes to security, however, Peng Xiaoran has a very practical view.
“The only thing that can truly give me a sense of security is the money in my bank account. The only thing that can truly be a safety net for my life is myself,” she said.
Peng Xiaoran also urged her fans not to place all their hopes in another person. She said this does not mean she is pessimistic about love, but rather that she believes people should remain clear-headed and take responsibility for their own lives.
As for marriage and having children, Peng Xiaoran said she currently has no plans to become a wife or mother. However, she has not ruled out those possibilities entirely and said she would face the future with greater maturity and wisdom.
Born in Beijing in December 1990, Peng Xiaoran graduated from the Communication University of China with a degree in Broadcasting. She has worked as both an actress and a host.
She rose to fame after starring as Qu Xiaofeng in the hit historical romance drama Good Bye, My Princess (《东宫》). Her other credits include Shining Just for You (《星河长明》), Love in Pavilion (《淮水竹亭》), and Blood River (《暗河传》).
