LayarHijau – Dylan Wang’s name trended on Weibo on Sunday, October 26, following rumors that he might star in the upcoming fantasy historical drama The Poisonous Queen of a Military Family. The project is said to be adapted from the popular novel The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage by Qian Shan Cha Ke (千山茶客).
One Weibo user wrote, “After several failed attempts at production, The Poisonous Queen of a Military Family is stirring up discussions again? The male lead candidates have ranged from Xiao Zhan, Wu Lei, and Zhang Linghe to Ding Yuxi, and now it’s Wang Hedi (Dylan Wang). Who dares to play Xie Jingxing?”

Other users noted that regardless of who takes the role, backlash is inevitable due to the character’s intense and commanding personality. “Whoever plays him will definitely become a target of debate,” one netizen joked.
In addition to Dylan Wang, several users on the same trending hashtag discussed possible female leads. Names like Zhao Lusi and Meng Ziyi also surfaced under the same tag that highlighted Dylan Wang on Sunday, October 26.
Interestingly, just two days earlier on October 24, rumors circulated that Dilraba Dilmurat had turned down an offer to join the project. A Weibo user posted, “I heard Dilraba Dilmurat refused to star in The Poisonous Queen of a Military Family. Whatever the outcome, she’s always been great at choosing scripts! From historical to modern dramas, from gentle to independent characters, she always finds the roles that fit her best. Maybe she declined this one because another project suits her better. Let’s wait and see what surprises she brings next!”
At present, Dilraba is filming a six-episode mini drama titled Although We Can’t Have Everything at the Same Time (虽然不能同时拥有一切).
The Poisonous Queen of a Military Family is based on the novel The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage by Qian Shan Cha Ke. It tells the story of Shen Miao, the daughter of a powerful military family known for their strict discipline and loyalty. Betrayed by her husband—a prince she once helped rise to power—and watching her family destroyed, Shen Miao is given a second chance at life, reborn in her younger years. Armed with the memories of her past, she vows to protect her family and seek revenge. Along the way, she encounters Xie Jingxing, a brilliant and enigmatic general whose motives are often unclear, yet whose presence changes her fate in unexpected ways.
Qian Shan Cha Ke is one of China’s most well-known authors of historical web novels. Several of her works have also been adapted into television dramas, including:
- The Double (2024), based on the novel Marriage of the Di Daughter,
- Legend of the Female General (2025), based on Rebirth of a Star General,
- The Glory (2025), based on The Reborn Noble Girl Is Hard to Find.
While the production team has not confirmed Dylan Wang’s participation, discussion surrounding the drama continues to grow rapidly on Weibo. Many fans hope that if the project is officially greenlit, the cast will include skilled actors capable of portraying the deeply layered characters of Shen Miao and Xie Jingxing.
