LayarHijau – The agency that once represented the late Chinese actor Yu Menglong, Tianyu Media, has come under intense public scrutiny after it was revealed to be the only state-owned artist management company in China. With deep ties across political, business, and entertainment circles, Tianyu Media is now at the center of controversy following the actor’s mysterious death.

According to Star EBC report, Yu Menglong’s passing has prompted netizens to revisit a troubling pattern of sudden or unexplained deaths involving Tianyu Media’s artists since 2006. Many of them reportedly suffered from depression, accidents, or unexplained incidents that remain the subject of public speculation.

The first case dates back to 2006, when Tan Beixi died in a car accident. Similar incidents followed: Shang Yubo (2011), Bian Ce (2015), Benxi (2016), Ren Jiao (2017), and most recently Yu Menglong in 2025 — all reportedly died after falling from buildings. Police classified the cases of Ren Jiao and Yu Menglong as “drinking and falling” incidents.

Other Tianyu Media artists confirmed to have taken their own lives include Qiao Renliang in 2016, Cai Zhong in 2020, and Lv Jiarong, who disappeared after 2019 and has not been found since. The repeated tragedies have fueled widespread concern about the environment within the state-owned agency.

Meanwhile, Mango Super Media, the parent company of Tianyu Media, has also been hit hard by the scandal. The company’s core businesses include Mango TV, interactive entertainment content, and content-based e-commerce. Since news of Yu Menglong’s death broke, Mango Super Media’s stock price plunged by 6.68% as of the close on October 9, while the number of shareholders dropped by 15,400 accounts compared to the previous report on August 31.

The situation further escalated on October 10, when the board of Mango Super Media announced the resignation of Deputy General Manager Luo Zejun. The company stated that Luo stepped down due to “work transfer arrangements,” but the timing of his departure has raised questions among the public.

Luo previously served as Director of the Security Department of Hunan Economic Television Station, Deputy Director of the Urban Channel at Hunan Radio and Television, and Executive Deputy General Manager of Hunan Radio, Film and Television Property Management Center. He joined Mango Super Media on July 4, 2022. With the company now under intense scrutiny, Luo has reportedly chosen to leave all of his positions.

Netizens on Weibo speculated that Luo’s resignation might be an attempt to “get out of the muddy waters” and distance himself from the unfolding crisis. As discussions continue to surge across social media, Tianyu Media remains one of the most talked-about names in China’s entertainment industry.
