Now, actor Guo Junchen has also become the subject of similar rumors. Some netizens claimed that he owns a shell company linked to firearms. In addition, during his birthday livestream on October 1, some viewers suggested that Guo made hand gestures that appeared to signal distress—similar to the claims surrounding Yu Menglong. Clips from the livestream spread quickly on Weibo, making Guo a trending topic.

How the rumor started
These rumors arose due to the perceived pattern between the Yu Menglong and Guo Junchen cases. After Yu’s death, netizens focused on his studio’s firearm-related trademark registrations and interpreted his “540” hand gesture as a call for help. When Guo’s name appeared with claims of a similar company, netizens speculated that he could be the “next target.” The livestream clips from Guo’s birthday showing certain hand movements further fueled the speculation.
However, to date there is no concrete evidence linking Guo to illegal activity or a shell company. These claims remain rumors and public opinion, not verified by any official authorities.
In response, Guo Junchen’s studio issued an official statement on October 10, emphasizing that the circulating rumors are baseless and have caused serious disruption to the actor’s personal life.
“Recently, there have been individuals using extreme language and curses to manipulate public opinion against Guo Junchen under the guise of concern,” the studio wrote on Weibo. “We have collected evidence of these fabricated false reports and have cooperated with public security authorities for verification on October 9. Official reports concerning the rumors and defamation have also been filed with the police.”
The studio clarified that the gestures Guo made during his birthday livestream carry no hidden meaning and should not be overinterpreted, Star EBC wrote.
Many fans have also voiced their support, seeing the rumors as a form of public panic following the tragic incident involving Yu Menglong. “Not everything has a hidden meaning; sometimes people just smile or wave,” wrote one netizen in the Weibo comments.
At present, Guo Junchen is reportedly resting and will resume his work activities once the situation has settled.
