LayarHijau – Actress Zhao Lusi is still under contract with Galaxy Cool Entertainment until 2030. Yet, her every move has once again become the focus of public attention after her latest drama Love’s Ambition premiered on September 26. Without any trailers or promotion, the series shot to the top of the popularity charts in less than an hour. On its first day, it recorded over 27,000 popularity points, and has since surpassed 30,000. This achievement set a new record as the fastest drama to enter Tencent Video’s “hit club” since 2025.
Originally planned as a web drama, Love’s Ambition quickly turned into a viral sensation thanks to its melodramatic storyline and fast-paced narrative. The story follows a woman who rewrites her destiny through lies. For the first time, Zhao Lusi portrays a scheming antagonist, pretending to be the daughter of a wealthy family in order to marry into another wealthy household. In the very first episode, she confronts her “mother-in-law,” played by Wen Zhengrong. Their dialogue, laced with deception and tension, left viewers exclaiming, “I can hardly breathe.”

The plot unfolds rapidly: a wedding takes place in episode six, while the mystery of the heroine’s true identity begins to unravel in episode eight. As the story develops, audiences also discover that the male lead, played by William Chan, harbors his own secret schemes. The clash between the two evolves into a battle of wits that eventually turns into a tense emotional duel, keeping viewers hooked.
As the drama expanded to more platforms, its popularity became even more apparent. What drew just as much attention, however, was the discovery that on the day of the premiere, Galaxy Cool Entertainment booked 10,000 seats in the online theater and prominently displayed Zhao Lusi’s promotional photos on its official website. Even more startling, the site’s IP address was traced to Sichuan. This caused an uproar among netizens, as Zhao Lusi herself is known to live in Sichuan, fueling speculation that her former management might be secretly reestablishing contact with her.
The revelation sparked heated debate: some believe Galaxy Cool Entertainment is attempting to reconcile with Zhao Lusi to protect its investment interests, while others see it as a corporate strategy to safeguard its reputation amid the explosive success of Love’s Ambition. The big question remains: will this drama’s triumph pave the way for reconciliation, or will it usher in a new chapter of conflict between Zhao Lusi and her agency?
