LayarHijau – Sohu Entertainment reported on September 8 that gossip outlets once again stirred heated public debate by spreading rumors about actor Xu Kai. In response, Xu Kai’s agency issued a firm statement, stressing that online claims accusing the actor of “chronic gambling,” “running a private casino,” and being “involved in criminal activity” are completely false. The company further emphasized that it will take legal action against anyone who seriously damages Xu Kai’s reputation.
Earlier, some media reports alleged that Xu Kai had been engaged in long-term gambling with others, claiming he won or lost tens of thousands of yuan each time, with the total reaching millions annually. His luxury villa in Hengdian was even rumored to have been turned into a “private casino.”
Meanwhile, Xu Lisha—who previously accused Xu Kai of cheating during their past relationship—also released a personal statement, saying her only request now is for Xu Kai to apologize publicly. “Admit the fact of deceiving and hurting women,” she wrote.
Separately, police authorities once again reminded the public about the serious consequences of gambling. Minor violations could result in detention for 1–15 days along with fines of up to 3,000 yuan. More severe cases may lead to criminal penalties, including up to three years in prison, detention, or supervision plus fines; in especially serious cases, offenders could face three to ten years in prison along with additional fines.
In addition to criminal punishment, public officials caught gambling may also face disciplinary sanctions from the Party and government, including dismissal from their posts. Criminal records related to gambling remain for life, restricting individuals from taking civil service exams, joining the military, traveling or studying abroad, immigrating, or entering professions such as law. Once a criminal record is established, any future offenses will be subject to harsher penalties.
It should be noted that all allegations against Xu Kai remain unproven and are, at this stage, nothing more than rumors.
