LayarHijau – Following the success of the long-form drama The Prisoner of Beauty (折腰), starring Liu Yuning and Song Zuer, which captivated audiences with its natural chemistry and compelling performances, the short drama version has officially begun filming. This new adaptation stars Wu Xize and rising actress Yue Yuting in the lead roles. The short drama has opted for the English title Yield to You, which more closely reflects the original Mandarin title.
Yue Yuting’s appearance as Xiao Qiao has already become a hot topic after she revealed her costume during a livestream. The red war-era dress she wore featured an extremely deep V neckline, exposing her shoulders and collarbones. Her fair, glowing skin and graceful neckline further emphasized the sensuality of the look. Other costume stills were also released, including Wu Xize in a warrior’s outfit and the character Su Ehuang with her signature nose-covering veil.
The full-length version of The Prisoner of Beauty tells the story of Xiao Qiao, a brilliant young woman from a noble family who is forced to marry warlord Wei Shao to protect her clan. What begins as a marriage built on hatred and revenge slowly transforms into a deep emotional connection as past wounds and secrets are uncovered. The historical romance blends emotional tension, political intrigue, and the internal struggles of two strong-willed individuals. The drama has 38 episodes, each approximately 45 minutes long.
However, Yue Yuting’s bold costume drew mixed reactions online. Some netizens criticized the look as too revealing and unfitting for a character like Xiao Qiao, traditionally portrayed as a refined lady from a prestigious family. Comments ranged from “Can’t she wear something without bare shoulders?” to “The neckline is unnecessarily low,” and even, “She looks more like a brothel girl from a period drama.”
Others, however, defended the choice, arguing that short-form dramas have their own unique style and appeal that differ from traditional series. “She still looks stunning,” one user wrote, while another added, “I’m definitely looking forward to watching this.”
Despite being only 24 years old, Yue Yuting is already considered one of the most prolific actresses in the short drama world, having starred in over 60 productions to date.
