LayarHijau – In a shocking revelation during a Douyin livestream on August 4, 2025, Chinese actress Zhao Lusi opened up about a disturbing incident that occurred during the filming of her drama Lover (恋人) in December 2024. According to Zhao, she suddenly fell seriously ill and was unable to walk without a wheelchair. However, instead of taking her to a hospital, her agency, Galaxy Cool Entertainment, allegedly locked her in a hotel room and brought in an exorcist to perform a ritual to drive out evil spirits.
Zhao said the agency believed her symptoms were the result of a bewitching spell or black magic. The so-called “master” was brought in to conduct an exorcism ritual, while she remained isolated in the hotel. Her parents, who were present during the incident, reportedly broke down in tears upon witnessing her condition and the agency’s bizarre response.
The livestream came just two days after Zhao published a lengthy personal statement on Weibo, on August 2, accusing Galaxy Cool of breaking verbal promises regarding her medical leave. Instead of offering support during her health crisis, the company allegedly slapped her with a 2.05 million RMB (around USD 280,000) penalty for breach of contract.
Zhao also claimed that the agency withdrew money from her studio account without her consent, refused to respond to her repeated attempts to communicate, and withheld the return of her studio’s management rights.
“There’s no need to wait for a ban,” she wrote bluntly in her Weibo post. “I quit!”
A day after that post, during another livestream on August 3, Zhao remained calm and composed as fans asked whether she was planning to retire from acting. Her reply quickly became a viral quote across Chinese social media:
“I’ve earned enough over the years. If things really don’t work out, I’ll just open a little noodle shop. No matter what happens, I still have my whole life ahead of me.”
Her candid, grounded tone won praise across platforms, with many netizens admiring her bravery and independence.
In response, Galaxy Cool Entertainment released an official statement at noon on August 3, expressing “shock and regret” over Zhao’s accusations. The company insisted that all actions had been legally vetted and complied with regulations. It also emphasized that it prioritizes the health and well-being of its artists and remains open to rational discussion. However, the agency warned Zhao against posting “ambiguous content” that could mislead the public and urged her to act responsibly as a public figure.
Zhao, however, didn’t hold back. In follow-up posts and livestreams, she criticized the agency’s internal operations as “disgusting” and accused them of emotional manipulation, even alleging that they had used a family illness to pressure her into submission.
“It may be easy for you to take advantage of me,” she said during one broadcast, “but it wasn’t easy for me to become who I am today.”
Although she has publicly declared her intention to leave, Zhao Lusi is still contractually bound to Galaxy Cool for another four years. If no settlement is reached, the dispute may escalate into a lengthy and highly publicized legal battle.
