LayarHijau– Chinese actress Zhao Lusi recently surprised fans by appearing in a casual, no-makeup livestream, calmly eating noodles while chatting with viewers—despite being in the middle of a heated dispute with her agency, Galaxy Cool Entertainment. The livestream, held on the afternoon of August 3rd, quickly went viral, attracting over 30 million viewers and more than 100 million likes.
“This isn’t about gaining sympathy,” Zhao said with a smile during the livestream. “I just want everyone to know I’m fine and living a normal life. Don’t let yourselves be manipulated.”
The broadcast came just a day after Zhao posted a lengthy statement on Weibo, accusing her agency of failing to fulfill verbal promises related to her health-related work hiatus and instead forcing her to shoulder a hefty 2.05 million RMB (approx. USD 280,000) breach of contract penalty. She claimed the agency deducted funds from her studio account without her consent, ignored multiple attempts at communication, and refused to return management rights of her studio.
“There’s no need to wait for a ban,” she wrote bluntly. “I quit!”
But it was her calm, matter-of-fact attitude during the livestream that truly won over fans. When asked whether her acting career was over, Zhao responded:
“I’ve earned enough over the years. If things really don’t work out, I’ll just open a little noodle shop. No matter what happens, I still have my whole life ahead of me.”
Her remark quickly became a trending quote across social media platforms, with many praising her grounded and fearless outlook.
In response, Galaxy Cool Entertainment issued a statement at noon on August 3rd, expressing “shock and regret” over Zhao’s claims. The company insisted that all its actions were reviewed by legal counsel and complied with the law. It emphasized that it prioritizes the health and well-being of its artists and remains open to rational communication. However, it also cautioned Zhao against posting “ambiguous content” that could mislead the public and urged her to speak responsibly as a public figure.
Zhao, however, didn’t hold back. In follow-up posts and additional livestreams, she described the company’s internal operations as “disgusting” and accused it of emotional manipulation, even citing a “family illness” being used as leverage against her.
“It may be easy for you to take advantage of me,” she said, “but it wasn’t easy for me to become who I am today.”
Zhao Lusi still has four years remaining on her contract with Galaxy Cool Entertainment. If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, the dispute could turn into a long and highly publicized legal battle.
