LayarHijau – Chinese actress Zhao Lusi (赵露思) is once again drawing attention following reports that she may star in a new drama titled Farewell Letter (告别信). What makes the project even more interesting is that Zhao is also rumored to be involved in its investment and production.
According to circulating reports, the drama could begin filming in Chengdu as early as October. Zhao Lusi is also said to be reuniting with the producer of Hidden Love (偷偷藏不住), sparking discussions among fans.

Earlier this year, Zhao Lusi was expected to begin filming As Beautiful As You Want (要多美丽就多美丽) in August. However, the collaboration eventually fell through because the script had not been completed.
In recent years, Zhao has reportedly placed greater importance on script quality. She is said to prefer receiving a complete script before joining a production in order to avoid major changes to the story during filming.
Farewell Letter is reportedly adapted from a work by German author Kerstin Gier titled Thirteen Suicide Farewell Letters. The story centers on Ge Li, a 30-year-old single female writer.
At the lowest point in her life, Ge Li loses her job and goes through a breakup. She decides to write 13 farewell letters to her family and friends. However, after an unexpected incident leaves her suicide attempt unsuccessful, she finds herself dealing with a series of absurd consequences after the letters have already been sent.
The story combines the struggles of urban women, dark humor, and personal growth, marking a major departure from the sweet romance dramas Zhao Lusi has often been associated with.
The drama is rumored to have around 10 episodes, each running for approximately 45 minutes. There are also reports that Youku has acquired the rights to the project.
For now, however, Zhao Lusi’s side has only confirmed that a new project will begin in October. The title Farewell Letter, its cast and production team, as well as the exact filming schedule, have yet to be officially announced.
Recently, Zhao Lusi has been expanding her presence in the content industry through her own studio. She is reportedly involved with the rights to several film and television IPs, with Farewell Letter said to be one of them.
Zhao previously took on a behind-the-scenes role in the short drama SONDER・I’m Not an NPC (SONDER・我不是NPC) as a producer and investor, marking one of her first steps toward working beyond acting.
If the rumors surrounding Farewell Letter prove to be true, the drama could become another significant project for Zhao Lusi, allowing her to take on a role not only as the lead actress but also as part of the production process.
