The 53-second video showcases the childhood of Zang Hai (played by Xiao Zhan), depicting his life with his parents and family before their home is consumed by fire.
The scene shifts to an adult Zang Hai and various other characters in the drama, including interactions between Zang Hai and Xiang An Tu (played by Zhang Jingyi). It also features political intrigue in the palace, several action sequences, and concludes with Zang Hai’s cunning smile.
Despite its brief duration, the video is trending on Weibo with various related hashtags. One highlight noted by netizens is Xiao Zhan’s clever smile at the end of the video.
His smile and facial expressions have been praised for capturing deep emotions. Netizens in China expressed their excitement to watch the drama.
Some users pointed out the beautiful color palette, props, and costumes. Meanwhile, one netizen highlighted a scene where Zhang Jingyi’s character approaches Xiao Zhan with a knife hidden behind her back. On the other hand, Xiao Zhan’s character is seen holding a crossbow under the table.
As they confront each other, both pretend to smile sweetly. The continuation of this pivotal scene remains unknown. From previous trailers, we know that Zhang Jingyi’s character possesses martial arts skills. This drama will mark her first role in an action scene.
It can be concluded that the two main characters in the drama possess strong martial arts abilities, which is intriguing as it deviates from the cliché of a strong male lead and a weak female lead.
