Rather than simply taking part in stage conversations, Cheng Lei was invited to participate in several interactive activities designed to introduce him to Indonesian culture. One of the highlights was his attempt at playing bola bekel, a traditional Indonesian game.
The traditional game was part of a series of interactive activities Cheng Lei took part in during the event. He also joined a picture-guessing game, creating a more relaxed atmosphere for his interaction with fans.
His cultural experience in Jakarta went beyond games. Cheng Lei also had the opportunity to try Indonesian food. For the actor, the experience became another memorable part of his first trip to the country, allowing him to experience Indonesia through activities rather than simply meeting fans on stage.
Cheng Lei also connected with fans through their fan letters. He read letters from fans during the event, giving them a more personal way to share their support with him.
The actor said he was happy to finally meet Indonesian fans in person. He had already heard a lot about Indonesia and the warm reception from local fans before making the trip.
“This is my first time coming to Indonesia, and I’m very happy to finally meet the fans here in person,” Cheng Lei said.
The presence of fans who had traveled from different parts of Indonesia also left a strong impression on Cheng Lei. He was touched to learn that many Indonesian fans had been following his work and supporting his career.
Cheng Lei also spoke about how stories can bring people together even when they come from different countries and speak different languages. In his view, those differences do not become barriers when people share stories they enjoy.
He hopes to continue sharing more stories and works from Asia with international audiences. In that sense, his first meeting with Indonesian fans offered a firsthand example of how entertainment can connect people across borders.
