LayarHijau – The Chinese drama The Early Spring (早春晴朗), starring Jing Boran and Sun Qian, has emerged as one of the biggest hits of summer 2026. The series even reached No. 2 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English TV shows. But behind the strong romantic chemistry between its two leads was an emotional filming experience that left Sun Qian feeling genuinely heartbroken as she wrapped up the drama.
The scene in question was the last scene Sun Qian filmed before completing her work on The Early Spring. In other words, it was the final scene she shot on set as Shang Zhitao—not necessarily the last scene featuring her character in the drama’s storyline.

In the scene, Shang Zhitao has returned to Harbin after spending years apart from Luan Nian. Luan Nian eventually comes back into her life, hoping to win her back and repair their relationship.
He questions why Shang Zhitao left and reminds her that he had also been trying throughout those six years. The two eventually embrace and cry together in the snow.
But the emotional reunion does not lead to reconciliation. Shang Zhitao ultimately rejects Luan Nian’s attempt to get back together and walks away.
For Sun Qian, filming that scene as her final piece of work on the drama made saying goodbye to Shang Zhitao even more difficult. She said The Early Spring was the drama that had left her feeling the most heartbroken throughout her career.
Sun Qian also felt particularly connected to Shang Zhitao because of how much they have in common. Both were born in Harbin and left for Beijing to pursue their dreams and build a life of their own.
That connection made wrapping the drama especially emotional for her. Sun Qian described her feelings at the wrap party as being “like heartbreak,” saying that it was extremely painful and left her feeling devastated.
Those emotions did not simply disappear when the cameras stopped rolling. The snow scene was the last time Sun Qian performed as Shang Zhitao on set, making the tears she shed during the scene part of an emotional goodbye to the character she had spent so much time portraying.
Jing Boran also had an emotional scene as his last shoot before completing his work on the drama. His character, Luan Nian, goes to see the aurora with his friends after his breakup with Shang Zhitao.
He then tries to call Shang Zhitao, only to discover that her phone number is no longer in service. Luan Nian breaks down in tears as he expresses everything he has been unable to say.
“We promised we would see the aurora together, but you disappeared. I don’t deserve to be loved. I just want to tell you that I love you,” Luan Nian says in the scene.
The decision to end both actors’ time on set with such emotionally charged scenes makes their final days of filming particularly memorable. While Sun Qian’s last scene involved an agonizing reunion in the snow, Jing Boran’s final scene showed Luan Nian realizing that Shang Zhitao was truly gone from his life.
Away from those tearful scenes, Jing Boran has also spoken candidly about filming his intimate scenes with Sun Qian. He admitted that the experience was awkward at first and joked that watching the finished scenes was somehow even more awkward than filming them.
“It was quite awkward while we were filming, but I didn’t expect it to feel even more awkward when I watched it,” Jing Boran said.
He explained that there had been many scenes to film early in production, so the sudden transition into intimate scenes caught him off guard. He even worked out on set to prepare himself physically for the demanding scenes.
The Early Spring features numerous intimate moments between Jing Boran and Sun Qian, prompting the production to bring in an intimacy coordinator to help guide the actors through the filming process. It was also the first time both actors had taken on intimate scenes on such a large scale.
With their strong chemistry making their relationship feel remarkably natural on screen, the snow reunion and aurora scenes became an especially emotional way for Jing Boran and Sun Qian to close out their time on set. For Sun Qian in particular, filming her last scene as Shang Zhitao seems to have felt less like finishing a job and more like saying goodbye to someone she had grown deeply attached to.
