LayarHijau – Overdo (这一秒过火) has two different endings. The surprising revelation came directly from lead actor Zhang Linghe during a livestream with fellow cast members Wang Churan, Fu Xinbo, Xu Zhenxuan, He Qiu, and Sha Baoliang.
During the livestream, Zhang Linghe shared that the production team deliberately filmed two separate endings. However, even the cast members themselves still do not know which version will ultimately be used in the drama.

“On the day we filmed the final ending, everyone was there. But we also filmed another version where no one was there,” Zhang Linghe said.
He admitted that he has no idea which ending viewers will eventually see.
“I don’t even know what the final version will look like,” he added.
Curious about his remarks, Wang Churan immediately asked whether she had also been absent during the filming of both endings.
“So I wasn’t there when you filmed them either?” Wang Churan asked.
Zhang Linghe confirmed that she did not appear in either of the ending versions filmed with him.
“No, you weren’t. You weren’t in either version,” he replied.
The conversation was then picked up by He Qiu. While pointing at the other cast members on the livestream screen, he explained that the version being discussed involved himself, Sha Baoliang—who is affectionately known as “Baozi Ge”—and Xu Zhenxuan.
Zhang Linghe later clarified that although Wang Churan did not appear in the two ending versions filmed with him, she had her own separate sequence.
“She also has her own version. On the other side, one of my versions can connect with one of hers,” Zhang Linghe explained.
According to Zhang Linghe, the biggest difference between the two endings lies in the characters’ presence and the overall narrative presentation.
The first version, described as the one where “everyone is there,” was filmed on the day the production shot the finale with the entire cast present. All of the main characters appear in this version, creating a relatively complete ending. Even so, Zhang Linghe said he still has no idea which version will make it into the final broadcast because he has not seen the completed drama.
The second version, referred to as the one where “no one is there,” was filmed with only Zhang Linghe, Baozi Ge, and a handful of other cast members present. Wang Churan was not part of that shoot. Zhang Linghe described the version as having a dreamlike quality, similar to a montage of memories flashing through a character’s mind. He almost revealed more details during the livestream before stopping himself, saying he did not want to spoil the ending.
Although Wang Churan does not appear in the two ending versions filmed with Zhang Linghe, she still has her own independent storyline. Her scenes will later connect with one of Zhang Linghe’s ending versions, creating a cross-narrative structure that allows viewers to piece together the complete ending from different perspectives.
Zhang Linghe’s revelation quickly sparked discussion across Chinese social media. On the drama’s premiere day, July 19, 2026, the hashtag #这一秒过火拍了两版结局# (“Overdo Filmed Two Ending Versions”) also became a trending topic on Weibo.
Fans soon began speculating about the differences between the two endings. Since the actual finale remains under wraps, many based their theories on Zhang Linghe’s livestream comments. One popular interpretation is that the “everyone is there” version will likely end with the protagonist reuniting with or reconciling with the important people in his life after enduring numerous hardships. Meanwhile, the “no one is there” version is believed to focus more on the protagonist confronting his past alone through memory flashes, ultimately finding emotional closure and acceptance.
That interpretation has led many viewers to believe the two endings will offer completely different emotional experiences. One is expected to emphasize a fulfilling and complete conclusion, while the other is thought to focus more on atmosphere, artistic expression, and lingering emotional resonance.
Some observers have also suggested that filming two endings was a creative decision designed to accommodate different audience preferences. Viewers who enjoy a more joyful and complete ending may prefer the first version, while those who appreciate a more artistic and open-ended narrative may be drawn to the second.
Chinese netizens have also expressed excitement about the dual-ending concept itself. One widely shared suggestion proposed that Tencent Video and iQIYI should each release a different ending. Other fans said they hope to see Zhang Linghe’s performance in both versions regardless of which one is ultimately selected, while many praised the production for experimenting with a dual-ending approach that remains relatively uncommon in Chinese television dramas.
Overdo, adapted from Fei Wo Si Cun’s novel If I Hadn’t Met You at This Moment (如果这一秒，我没遇见你), premiered simultaneously on Tencent Video and iQIYI on July 19, 2026. For now, the production team continues to keep the official ending under wraps, leaving audiences guessing which version will ultimately make it to the screen.
