Even though filming is still underway, his character, criminal police officer Gao Yuan, has already become one of the hottest topics on Chinese social media. The role’s popularity index has reportedly surpassed 100 million, landing it on Weibo’s trending list.
Evidence marks Liu’s first crime investigation drama. To fully embody Gao Yuan, he underwent a dramatic physical transformation, shedding 22 pounds before production began.

Evidence follows Han Yongqiang, the driver of the director of Chengyang City’s Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee, who gradually crosses the line between power and crime. After committing a series of violent offenses, he transforms into a ruthless crime boss whose influence continues to grow.
His empire begins to crumble after his daughter’s involvement in a fatal fall from a building in 2018 triggers a sweeping criminal investigation. Gao Yuan, played by Liu Yuning, leads a special task force determined to expose the organization. Despite political pressure and repeated setbacks throughout the investigation, the team ultimately brings down Han Yongqiang’s criminal empire after uncovering the decisive piece of evidence that seals his fate.
