Streaming platforms were quick to create an exclusive showcase dedicated solely to Yang Zi’s filmography. Netizens widely praised the move as an official stamp of approval for her acting prowess and her proven ability to anchor a hit series. Furthermore, she earned dual nominations at the Golden Eagle Awards for her roles in Flourished Peony and Born To Be Alive.
Throwback: Her Humble Start as a Background Extra
Behind this string of outstanding achievements and the influx of lucrative project offers, it’s hard to believe that Yang Zi’s entry into the entertainment industry was incredibly humble. Amidst the euphoria of her win, she took a moment to reminisce about her early days stepping onto a set as just a background extra.
“The first time I went to a set, I was just a background extra. I remember one time I didn’t have any scenes for three days, but I still had to wait around from morning to night. Yet, I was happy every single day,” Yang Zi recalled.
She admitted to just standing around on set, feeling that everything was so fresh and exciting. “When I was little, even if you told me to stay there for a month, I would still be happy. So maybe back then, it was just a combination of courage and curiosity,” she added.
Reaping the Rewards of Hard Work
Yang Zi considers her experience as an extra a crucial foundation in her career. She remains grateful for those early days, as they gave her a head start compared to her peers.
This impressive lineup of accolades—from Best Actress at the Magnolia Awards and being featured among influential figures, to dual nominations at the Golden Eagle Awards—is no coincidence. It is the result of years of hard work, honing her craft across various genres, and her unwavering dedication to quality projects. It stands as tangible proof that an actor with superb skills, broad mainstream appeal, and strong market draw will inevitably earn the respect and recognition of the industry, streaming platforms, and audiences alike.
