LayarHijau – The appearance of the character Yu Qianqian, played by Kong Xueer, in the latest episode of the drama Pursuit of Jade has captured the attention of viewers across China. Her performance even became a hot topic on Weibo, with the hashtag “孔雪儿 真天使投资人” (Kong Xueer is truly an angel investor) trending nationwide.

In the viral scenes, Yu Qianqian is portrayed as a confident, poised, and elegant businesswoman. With sharp yet warm eyes, she manages her business dealings with remarkable skill. Yu Qianqian is a fictional character in the costume romance drama Pursuit of Jade, played by Kong Xueer. Her involvement in the series was officially announced on December 15, 2024, alongside the other main cast members.

The drama centers on Fan Changyu, a young woman from a butcher family, and Xie Zheng, a fallen noble. They enter a marriage of convenience that gradually turns into genuine love, unfolding against the backdrop of war and complex revenge plots.

The series is produced by Zhejiang Dongyang Haohan Film & Television Entertainment, iQIYI Pictures, and Tencent Video Culture Communication, with production by Beijing Chunfeng Huamian Culture Media. It is scheduled to air on Tencent Video and iQIYI platforms.

In the story, Yu Qianqian is closely connected to the two main leads and plays a key role in the emotional and power struggles throughout the plot.

Her character is depicted as self-aware, courageous, and unafraid to challenge injustice. She brings warmth to those around her, even as love and hatred briefly touch her life.

One of the most complex relationships in the story is between Yu Qianqian and Prince Qi Min, played by Deng Kai. This pairing is a major secondary couple in the story, known for its intense and conflicted dynamic.

Qi Min is portrayed as ambitious, ruthless, and possessive, obsessed with Yu Qianqian and determined to control their relationship. Yu Qianqian, meanwhile, is the daughter of a wealthy merchant family in the south, independent and intelligent. Initially resistant, she is eventually drawn into an emotional conflict with the prince.

Their relationship evolves into a tragic love story. Qi Min ultimately fails in his quest for the throne and loses all his allies.

In the story’s most dramatic moment, Yu Qianqian herself administers poison to Qi Min, ending their obsession-filled, power-driven, and emotionally intense relationship.

After Qi Min’s death, Yu Qianqian does not enter into any romantic relationship again. She leaves the capital and embarks on a life of her own, free from future emotional entanglements.

However, the novel source has some differences. In The Marquis’s Wife and the Butcher’s Knife, Yu Qianqian is revealed to be a time traveler.

Near the end of the novel, she confesses this to Fan Changyu. She mentions that during her lifetime there was a female general remembered as one of the kingdom’s founders.

Yu Qianqian does not specify exactly which era she comes from, though it seems not to be the modern age.

Her status as a time traveler, however, has little impact on the story. In the novel, this detail does not contribute significantly to the plot or alter the events that unfold.
