LayarHijau – Rumors about a potential second collaboration between Esther Yu and He Yu have immediately drawn fans’ attention. After previously starring together in the modern drama Speed and Love (雙軌), which achieved 5 billion streams and a 6.7 rating on Douban, the two are now reportedly set to reunite in a costume fantasy project titled Immortal Flesh/Shen Xian Rou (神仙肉).
Esther Yu has gained widespread recognition through popular dramas such as Love Between Fairy and Devil (蒼蘭訣) with Wang Hedi, My Journey to You (雲之羽) with Zhang Linghe, and Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (永夜星河) alongside Ding Yuxi. These successes have cemented her position as one of the most prominent young actresses in recent years.

He Yu also drew significant attention for his role in Speed and Love (雙軌). While the drama received mixed reviews, the on-screen chemistry between Esther Yu and He Yu was widely praised, especially by fans of the couple (CP). Their popularity also saw a substantial increase on social media, both in China and internationally.
The rumored reunion in Immortal Flesh/Shen Xian Rou (神仙肉) has sparked a range of reactions among fans. Some welcomed the chance to see their interactions again, while others expressed cautious interest, considering character fit and each actor’s career trajectory before fully supporting the project.
Another point of attention is the female lead in the original novel Immortal Flesh/Shen Xian Rou (神仙肉), He Pan, described as an extraordinarily beautiful character with a captivating aura. Some fans have discussed the visual interpretation of this character, noting that Esther Yu is often associated with a sweet and cheerful charm in her previous costume dramas. These differing opinions have contributed to lively discussions online.
In summary, Immortal Flesh/Shen Xian Rou (神仙肉) tells the story of Taoist priest Rong Chen Zi, whose flesh and blood possess irresistible allure for supernatural beings. He Pan, a thousand-year-old river clam spirit, approaches him disguised as a naive girl in order to save her childhood friend. Along the way, she finds herself torn between her original intentions and the feelings that gradually develop.
At present, the project remains a rumor, with no official confirmation from the production team or the actors. Nevertheless, the possibility of a second collaboration between Esther Yu and He Yu continues to be a hot topic among Chinese drama fans.
