However, a source familiar with the production has denied reports that filming has been halted. According to the source, the claim that “Nian Xiangsi” had stopped production is false, and filming is continuing as normal.
The rumors emerged as discussions surrounding the drama once again gained traction online. One of the issues that has drawn attention since the early stages of production is dissatisfaction among some fans over the billing and ranking of the two lead actors.
“Nian Xiangsi” is primarily a female-led drama. Esther Yu was cast as the female lead and placed first in the billing, while Hou Minghao was placed second.
The billing arrangement sparked dissatisfaction among some of Hou Minghao’s fans. They felt that his character’s position and screen time were less favorable compared with Esther Yu’s. The disagreement subsequently developed into friction between the two fan groups.
However, the fan dispute is separate from the alleged conflict between the actors’ respective teams. So far, neither Esther Yu nor Hou Minghao, nor the production team, has confirmed that the two sides are involved in an internal dispute.
