LayarHijau– To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Stardew Valley is adding two new romanceable characters in the 1.7 update: Clint and Sandy. Clint, the town’s blacksmith, has long been a divisive figure, while Sandy, who runs the desert store, brings a sense of mystery and charm to the game.
Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone had previously teased that new romance candidates were coming, sparking weeks of speculation among fans. People debated whether the new options would be entirely new characters, existing ones like the Wizard, or someone newly single due to a divorce. Sandy was a fan favorite choice despite her distant location, while Clint was far less anticipated.

The anniversary video also offered a nostalgic look at the game’s early 2012 version, Sprout Valley. The map layout is surprisingly similar to the modern version, but the pixel art is rough and inconsistent. Barone himself was critical of this early build, calling it “crap” and reflecting on how different his life might have been if the game had been released earlier.
Footage from later builds shows how quickly the game evolved into the Stardew Valley we know today, with almost all core elements in place just a year later. Some ambitious features, like procedurally generated mines inspired by Terraria and an underground goblin village, were ultimately scrapped, leaving fans to wonder what might have been.
For players married to Emily, Clint’s addition may feel awkward, as he still flirts with her despite the player’s family. Sandy, however, adds exciting possibilities for new challenges, especially since she is typically encountered later in the game.
