LayarHijau – The latest romantic wuxia costume drama Generation to Generation (江湖夜雨十年灯), starring Zhou Yiran and Bao Shangen, officially premiered exclusively on Tencent Video on February 22. Produced by Tencent Video and Xinguang Pictures, the series is directed by Lü Haojiji and Guo Feng, with a screenplay written by Shao Sihan.
Adapted from a popular IP, Generation to Generation tells a fated love story set against the turbulent backdrop of the martial arts world. The drama follows Mu Qingyan (played by Zhou Yiran), the young leader of a demonic sect, and Cai Zhao (played by Bao Shangen), a laid-back yet strong-willed female swordswoman. Their relationship begins with suspicion and opposition, as they stand on different sides of the jianghu. Over time, however, they grow into each other’s protectors while uncovering hidden secrets within the martial arts realm.
Bao Shangen’s portrayal of Cai Zhao has become one of the drama’s key highlights. She convincingly presents the character’s transformation from an innocent young woman into a mature and resilient heroine. Her nuanced expressions and emotional delivery further strengthen the dynamic between the two leads.
In terms of performance, the drama has shown a promising start. According to Yunhe data, on its premiere day, Generation to Generation secured a 4.1 percent market share of effective views and ranked 10th among dramas airing during the same period. Its platform heat value also demonstrated an upward trend, rising from 4788 on the first day to 5465 on the following day.
The production team emphasizes wuxia aesthetics through carefully designed sets, costumes, and cinematography to create a poetic and immersive martial arts atmosphere. Prior to its release, the drama’s posters and trailers generated considerable buzz on social media, building strong anticipation among viewers.
