LayarHijau – WeTV introduced a fresh experience for Chinese drama fans in Indonesia by hosting the First Chinese Drama Cafe Event: Shine On Me by WeTV. Held on January 4, 2026, the event marked Indonesia’s first-ever cafe event dedicated to a Chinese drama, created as a special celebration for fans of the popular urban romance series Shine On Me (骄阳似我).
Taking place in the Blok M area of Jakarta, the one-day event adopted a cozy and relaxed cafe concept. Fans were invited not only to enjoy the drama on screen, but also to step into an atmosphere inspired by the story itself. From decorations referencing iconic scenes in Shine On Me to specially curated themed menu items, every element was designed to feel intimate and relatable to viewers’ daily lives.

Shine On Me premiered on WeTV on December 22, 2025. Adapted from the well-known novel by Gu Man, the drama stars Zhao Jinmai and Song Weilong. The story follows Nie Xi Guang, a young woman at the beginning of her professional career, and Lin Yu Sen, a calm and mature figure in the workplace. With its emotionally warm narrative and realistic portrayal of modern life, the series quickly gained attention from audiences across Asia, including Indonesia.
Throughout the event, visitors could take part in various interactive activities such as aesthetic photo corners, mini games, and the chance to purchase exclusive merchandise available only during the event. Many attendees came with friends or fellow community members, turning the cafe into a lively space for connection and shared enthusiasm among Chinese drama fans.
One attendee, Fania, expressed her happiness about joining the event. “I was able to meet new friends again. After this event, I really hope there will be many more events like this for other Chinese dramas,” said Fania in a press release received by LayarHijau from WeTV Indonesia on Wednesday, January 7.
More than a promotional activity, the First Chinese Drama Cafe Event: Shine On Me by WeTV highlighted how watching dramas has evolved into a lifestyle. The event provided an offline meeting point for fans to connect and celebrate their favorite series in a more immersive way, while also reflecting the growing popularity of Chinese dramas among Indonesian audiences and the potential for similar events in the future.
For viewers who want to follow the full story of Shine On Me, the drama is available to stream on WeTV. VIP users can watch daily at 5:00 PM WIB, with two episodes per day from December 29 to 31, followed by one episode per day starting January 7, including the Express Plus option that allows early access to one additional episode. Meanwhile, Free users can enjoy one episode per day every Monday to Friday. More detailed information is available through WeTV’s official platform.
