During a livestream on the Red Note (Xiaohongshu) app on December 31, Zhao Lusi explained the reasons behind her choice to avoid public appearances, while also revealing four major work plans she has prepared for 2026.
Last year, Zhao Lusi reached the peak of her popularity thanks to the drama Love’s Ambition (《许我耀眼》), which has been widely regarded as one of the most influential dramas of 2025. The success further boosted her profile and marked an important phase in her career following her departure from her former management company, Galaxy Cool Entertainment. However, behind the spotlight, Zhao Lusi was largely inactive in filming throughout the year due to health issues that had yet to fully recover.

Instead of appearing at various New Year celebration events, Zhao Lusi chose to interact with fans through a livestream on Red Note. The decision was met with an overwhelming response. From a single livestream session alone, her follower count reportedly increased by around 200,000. During the broadcast, Zhao Lusi also revealed four main plans for 2026: returning to drama projects, participating in variety show recordings, taking part in music video (MV) productions, and engaging in various advertising and endorsement collaborations.

Following that, Zhao Lusi publicly exposed various issues she experienced while under her former management, then deleted her Weibo account, which had more than 30 million followers. She later became active on Red Note, where her popularity surged once again, with her growth rate often cited as among the fastest on the platform.
Zhao Lusi’s soaring popularity through Love’s Ambition is rumored to have attracted the attention of Alibaba, the largest shareholder of Galaxy Cool Entertainment. This has sparked speculation that the company may be seeking to recruit Zhao Lusi, though no official confirmation has been made.
During the livestream, Zhao Lusi also explained her reasons for choosing to stay away from New Year celebration events. She shared that the transition period between 2024 and 2025 was an extremely sensitive time for her, as her physical and mental health had suffered significant setbacks. She expressed concern that emotional pressure could once again affect her condition if she forced herself to appear in public.
Zhao Lusi also spoke candidly about her feelings when standing on stage. She said she could sense unfriendly gazes from some people, making it difficult for her to sincerely say the words “thank you.” For that reason, she chose to connect with fans through livestreaming, which she felt was a safer and more comfortable form of interaction.
