LayarHijau – Zhao Lusi, who rose to fame through the drama Love’s Ambition (許我耀眼), is now in the spotlight after rumors surfaced that she would be paired with Yang Xuwen from Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty (唐朝詭事錄之長安) in a new costume drama titled Gong Yu. However, during a live streaming session yesterday (Nov 20), Zhao Lusi clarified that she currently has no plans to join the production.
“There are many things that aren’t that simple; they need to be slowly accepted and adjusted,” she said during the live stream. Her statement caused concern among fans, considering the traumatic experience she endured while filming Lover (玫瑰的故事). At that time, Zhao Lusi reportedly received a yin-yang script, which refers to a script where the original version differs from the version actually used on set, meaning actors may receive information that does not fully match the production’s plan. She reportedly wanted to seek help from director Deng Ke, but the director was rarely present on set, and the producer was the director’s wife, leaving Zhao Lusi with little support.
Additionally, the production team was reportedly adding intimate scenes as a form of pressure, coupled with a daily high-intensity shooting schedule, which affected Zhao Lusi’s physical and mental health. She was reportedly hospitalized and diagnosed with dissociation, temporarily unable to speak or walk.
Beyond the production pressure, her former agency, Galaxy KuYu, was also rumored to have treated Zhao Lusi poorly. Some reports claim that while she was sick, she was confined in a hotel by agency staff and forced to bear production losses, though these claims remain unconfirmed.
Despite these challenges, Zhao Lusi proved her talent and popularity through Love’s Ambition, which earned her the title of Drama of the Year. She is reportedly now signed under Tiger Whale Entertainment, a subsidiary of Alibaba, though most details of the process remain rumors.
Zhao Lusi recently celebrated her 27th birthday and held a free birthday event while announcing her new agency contract, thanking fans for their support. During the live stream, she reiterated that she currently has no plans to return to filming, as she continues treatment for depression and dissociation, which affect her memory. Many fans expressed concern for her, especially regarding the trauma she experienced during previous productions.
Nevertheless, Zhao Lusi continues to show care for her fans. She announced that a fan meeting is scheduled for next month and invited fans to celebrate New Year’s Eve together online, confirming that she will not attend any TV New Year’s events.
