LayarHijau – The Chinese costume drama Fight For Love, starring Ding Yuxi and Victoria Song, aired its final episode on November 16, 2025. In the ending, although the duo successfully defeated the ambitious enemies from Bei Qi, Wei Yun (Ding Yuxi) must honor his promise to the emperor by guarding the frontier for three years, giving him the chance to develop his relationship with Chu Yu (Victoria Song). Three years later, Wei Yun returns and sees Chu Yu standing on the city wall in a red outfit, dancing with her sword—a scene that mirrors their first meeting, moving many viewers to tears.

The ending, however, drew criticism for two major “flaws.” First, in the original novel Chang Sao Wei Qi by Mo Shubai, Chu Yu and Wei Yun not only have a formal wedding but also intimate scenes, all of which were omitted in the drama. Second, the character Grand Princess (Joe Chen) in the novel survives and ascends to the throne after orchestrating Zhao Yue’s (Liang Xuefeng) death, while in the drama, she kills Zhao Yue and then dies herself, sparking outrage among fans.
In the final episode, Chu Yu and Wei Yun, with the help of the Grand Princess, successfully foil Bei Qi’s schemes. Zhao Yue kidnaps the Grand Princess, and though they fall in love, their differing principles and positions make their romance tragically doomed. The Grand Princess, having already ingested poison, pushes Zhao Yue off a cliff after their farewell kiss. Chu Yu and Wei Yun are unable to save her, leaving an emotional scene that brought many viewers to tears.
After signing the peace agreement with Bei Qi, Chu Yu hopes she can finally be with Wei Yun. But Wei Yun reminds her of his duty to guard the frontier for three years. When he returns after three years, he sees Chu Yu dancing with her sword in a red outfit atop the city wall, recreating the moment of their first meeting and evoking strong emotions from viewers.
Although the reunion scene is touching, many viewers remain disappointed as the drama simplifies several important moments from the novel. These changes sparked significant controversy among fans.
