Originally, actor Yang Yang, known for The Immortal Ascension (凡人修仙传), was rumored to be considered for the male lead. However, due to a recurring injury and the demanding action sequences required, he reportedly declined the role.
Earlier rumors also linked actress Song Zu’er, who is currently active in several projects, to the drama. The latest reports, however, suggest that Lu Yuxiao has secured the female lead, paired with Tan Jianci as her co-star.
Lu Yuxiao gained widespread recognition for his role in Love in the Clouds (入青雲) alongside Hou Minghao, which significantly raised his profile in costume dramas. With the potential pairing of Lu Yuxiao and Tan Jianci in Why Not Cross the River Together, fans are already anticipating their on-screen chemistry as a major highlight of the series.
