LayarHijau – The historical romance drama Legend of the Female General (锦月如歌), starring Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei, and co-starring Zhang Kangle, Zhang Miaoyi, and others, officially premiered on August 6. According to Yunhe data, the series had an impressive debut, with its main episodes securing a 5.4% market share, ranking eighth among dramas airing during the same period. Its peak popularity on the streaming platform also reached 23,257, reflecting high audience interest.
Adapted from Qianshan Chake’s novel Reborn Female General, the story follows He Yan, a former female general who, after being “reborn,” joins the Yezhou Guard. She teams up with the handsome Commander Xiao Jue to eliminate traitors. Amid the clashing of swords and looming dangers, the two slowly fall in love and ultimately share the responsibility of defending their country.
On August 7, Legend of the Female General hosted a fan screening event in Beijing, with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei in attendance to promote the drama. Zhou Ye turned heads in an all-black outfit paired with intricate accessories, exuding a chic yet sweet style. Cheng Lei opted for a bright blue jacket over a white shirt, striking a calm yet charismatic look.
The atmosphere heated up during the game segment, where Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei mimicked the playful expressions of a “happy Samoyed” and a “smirking cat,” before recreating the popular “pink bunny” meme together. Cheers of “so cute!” erupted from fans at the scene.
One of the highlights came when Zhou Ye drew a “punishment” task, which required her to measure Cheng Lei’s waist. Jokingly, Cheng Lei remarked, “So this is my punishment?” but still cooperated, his ears turning red with embarrassment. He also read out a sweet, over-the-top line, pretending to gently wake up He Yan—Zhou Ye’s character in the drama—in a romantic tone, which sent the audience into a frenzy and earned praise for their undeniable chemistry.
