Bai Lu’s Dedication in ‘The First Jasmine’: Filming Through Pain, Heartfelt Farewell to Ye Li Moves Fans

LayarHijau – The historical drama The First Jasmine, starring Bai Lu and Cheng Lei, has officially wrapped up its final episode. The drama’s success adds another remarkable title to Bai Lu’s impressive filmography. But behind the epic conclusion, behind-the-scenes revelations have left fans both heartbroken and in awe of her dedication.

Bai Lu’s Poetic Goodbye to Ye Li

As the drama came to an end, the main cast shared emotional farewell messages. Bai Lu penned a particularly poetic letter to her character, Ye Li, describing the filming experience as a brief rain that allowed fate to pause for a moment.

“Thank you for this brief rain, which allowed fate to pause for a moment. We sat side by side, the damp wind blowing past our ears, sometimes the story was narrow, sometimes vast,” Bai Lu wrote to open her letter.

Facing the end of the story, Bai Lu expressed her gratitude. “The rain has stopped. Dear A Li, I’m happy for you. You can run among the trees, or stop by the stream. All the joys and sorrows of this world, I believe, you can now face with an open heart.”

Though reluctant to say goodbye, she realized it was time to let the character go. She closed her message by quoting her character’s grandfather from the drama: “You cannot stop, don’t be trapped by the past. Your path lies ahead, not behind.”

As a poetic farewell, Bai Lu wrote, “As we part, I give you a small jasmine flower. May your journey to the mountains be filled with song and steps. Closing this scroll, may we meet again in a wider world.”

Cheng Lei’s Deep Connection with Mo Xiuyao

Meanwhile, Cheng Lei, who played Prince Ding Mo Xiuyao, was equally emotional. He revealed a hidden emotional bond with his character, expressing heartache for Ye Li, who had to conceal deep sorrow behind her strong exterior.

For him, memories from filming were like opening an old, long-sealed chest that suddenly felt vivid and real. As the ice melted and the sun rose in the drama’s storyline, Cheng Lei bid farewell with tenderness, wishing A Yao a smooth path ahead. The heartfelt messages from both leads quickly flooded social media comments with tears from devoted fans.

Filming Through Pain Revealed

Beyond the tear-jerking emotional scenes, the official The First Jasmine account recently released behind-the-scenes footage that sparked widespread discussion. The video captured Bai Lu performing wirework and martial arts training. She executed all the difficult and risky stunts herself, without a stunt double.

Director Lin Yufen had previously revealed during an event that Bai Lu pushed through filming despite being ill. On multiple occasions, she was seen instinctively clutching her lower back to manage the pain. Her dedication earned full praise and appreciation from co-stars and the entire crew.

Health History That Breaks Fans’ Hearts

Bai Lu’s struggle on the set of The First Jasmine wasn’t without reason. It’s known that the actress has a complex medical history. She underwent surgery in childhood that left lingering effects on her spine. Combined with her early modeling career, where she often wore spring outfits in freezing weather, this led to arthritis.

The condition causes her nerves and spine to stiffen easily, forcing her to work extra hard to endure pain during every action sequence.

Taking a Break from Historical Dramas

Recognizing that her health requires rest, Bai Lu has made a significant decision. After completing The First Jasmine, she announced she will temporarily stop accepting historical drama offers to focus on physical recovery.

For those who don’t want to miss her stunning visuals, excellent chemistry with Cheng Lei, and fluid action sequences, don’t be discouraged! This is the perfect time to rewatch the drama from episode one. Grab some tissues, because Ye Li and Mo Xiuyao’s journey will surely tug at your heartstrings!
