LayarHijau– Xiao Zhan’s decision to remove the name of his former group X Nine (X玖少年团) from his Weibo account on July 18, 2025, quickly became the No. 1 trending topic on the platform. While the group’s disbandment had been officially announced on the same day, it was Xiao Zhan’s quiet update to his profile that caught fans’ immediate attention.
This move marked the end of a chapter that began nearly a decade ago. Formed in 2016 through the Zhejiang Satellite TV program X‑FIRE, X Nine originally consisted of nine members: Xiao Zhan, Zhao Lei, Xia Zhiguang, Peng Chuyue, Wu Jiacheng, Gu Jiacheng, Guo Zifan, Yan Xujia, and Chen Zexi. The “X” symbolized the unknown and limitless future awaiting them.

The group’s disbandment was made official via a public post: “The burning time has made the best teenagers. Nine years, Be A Man. X玖少年团 wishes you happy every day!” This message, shared by the band’s official account, was followed by multiple members — including Xiao Zhan, Zhao Lei, and others — removing the band prefix from their usernames.
However, among fans, Xiao Zhan’s change attracted the most discussion, as it coincided with speculation about his increasing independence as an artist. Fans expressed a mix of nostalgia and relief, especially given the long-standing dissatisfaction toward the group’s management company, Wajijiwa Entertainment. They previously accused the agency of poor handling of Xiao Zhan’s career during earlier controversies — a sentiment that escalated after the company allegedly filed reports against online forums, which inadvertently sparked massive backlash against the star in 2020.
Xiao Zhan has since operated with more autonomy, managing his personal studio and projects with a level of independence from his agency. Now that the group is formally disbanded, many wonder what his next move will be — some fans speculate a full departure from Wajijiwa, while others believe he may continue on with his solo path under current conditions.
As of now, no official statement has been made about Xiao Zhan’s contract status or future plans. However, the symbolic gesture of removing “X玖少年团” from his profile has left fans feeling that he is ready to turn the page for good.
