She wrote, “I didn’t expect this to still be trending in 2025. Regarding this false rumor, I’ve clarified it in the past, and this will be my final clarification. There was never anything between us. We’re just friends. Please stop spreading rumors.”
This statement addressed long-standing speculation over a photo from 2019 that appeared to show the two actors holding hands after filming The Untamed. Xuan Lu explained that during the filming period, many cast members stayed at the same hotel, and the hotel allowed access to any floor without a key card.
“There were many sasaeng fans who followed us to and from work every day. That so-called ‘hand-holding photo’ was taken when we made plans to have dinner after work. I approached Wang Zhuocheng to pat him and ask where we were going to eat. That moment was captured in the photo. Staff from both teams were present at the time,” she clarified, as reported by Jiupai News.
The Untamed began filming in April 2018 and became a massive hit when it aired in 2019. In the series, Xuan Lu played Jiang Yanli, while Wang Zhuocheng portrayed Jiang Cheng—two characters who are siblings. Despite this, their off-screen interactions led some fans to speculate about a possible romantic relationship, especially after the photo emerged.
