What caused an even bigger buzz, however, was the rumor that Zhang Ruonan would be on the same team as Victor Ma (Ma Boqian) in the upcoming episode. Victor Ma gained widespread recognition for his role as Sang Yan in the popular drama Hidden Love. Interestingly, both Zhang Ruonan and Victor Ma played lead characters in two different versions of the same love story — the romantic relationship between Sang Yan and Wen Yifan. This unexpected pairing in the same team has been dubbed a “dream linkage” by fans.
According to Upmedia, the information first surfaced from a netizen who attended the live recording of the show. The netizen revealed that there were nine guests in total for the episode, divided into three teams of three members each. Zhang Ruonan was reportedly grouped with Victor Ma and Yang Di.
Victor Ma received considerable praise for his performance as Sang Yan in Hidden Love. His character, portrayed as a warm and protective older brother to Sang Zhi (played by Zhao Lusi), won viewers over with his natural and charismatic acting. Some even felt that Ma Boqian’s portrayal outshined the male lead of the series.
However, it’s important to note that the character Wen Yifan does not appear nor is mentioned in Hidden Love at all. Wen Yifan was only introduced in The First Frost, which is adapted from the same universe but from another novel and explores Sang Yan’s romantic storyline. In The First Frost, Sang Yan is played by Bai Jingting, while Zhang Ruonan takes on the role of Wen Yifan.
This is what makes the joint appearance of Zhang Ruonan and Victor Ma on the same team in Hello, Saturday especially exciting for fans. Although they never appeared together in any drama, they each represent the same pair of lovers from different versions of the story. Viewers are calling it a “cross-universe encounter” or a “dream crossover” between character versions.
The exciting episode of Hello, Saturday is scheduled to air on June 7, 2025. In one segment, Zhang Ruonan reportedly performs the song Love You by Cyndi Wang Xinling — a song that became popular after Bai Jingting danced to it in the rain and wind during a variety show two years ago. The nostalgic moment quickly resurfaced on social media, fueling speculation about the real-life closeness between Zhang Ruonan and Bai Jingting.
This coincidence sparked even more discussion online, with fans wondering if there’s something more between Zhang Ruonan and Bai Jingting behind the scenes. While there has been no official confirmation, their interactions and joint appearances have left many fans hoping to see them work together again — whether in variety shows or in future dramas.
With both Zhang Ruonan and Victor Ma appearing in Hello, Saturday, this episode is shaping up to be a major highlight. Will the chemistry between these alternate versions of Sang Yan and Wen Yifan shine through in the team games? We’ll have to wait until June 7 to find out.
