She revealed that Perfect World Pictures is currently building IP (Intellectual Property) linkages between long and short dramas, hoping to bring more value to a single IP across different platforms.
One of the projects in development is a short drama based on Ashes of Love. Ashes of Love, which aired in 2018 and starred Yang Zi, Deng Lun, and Luo Yunxi, received a warm reception from audiences at the time, according to Sohu.
“This long drama has been viewed 20 billion times so far, with a total duration of around 2,600 minutes. Therefore, developing a short drama based on this IP is something worth looking forward to,” said Zeng Yingxue.
Unfortunately, there is no information yet on who will star in the short drama version of Ashes of Love. Yang Zi and Luo Yunxi are currently among the top stars in China, while Deng Lun was blacklisted following a tax evasion scandal. It remains unclear whether he will be able to return to the entertainment industry.
