LayarHijau – Li Yitong’s latest Chinese drama, The Vanishing Beauty (美人餘), premiered on October 9, 2026. Co-starring Wang Jiajia and Chang Huasen, the modern drama quickly attracted attention after surpassing Irreplaceable and The Shadow Detective on Maoyan’s Chinese drama popularity chart.
Adapted from Yi Bei’s novel of the same name, The Vanishing Beauty consists of 28 episodes. The story follows Yu Meng (Li Yitong), a wealthy family’s daughter and social media influencer whose seemingly perfect marriage begins to crumble. Shortly before her fifth wedding anniversary, Yu Meng discovers that her husband, Di Liren (Qiao Zhenyu), who has long been regarded as the ideal son-in-law, is secretly plotting to take control of her family’s entire fortune.

After realizing that she has fallen victim to a marriage scam, Yu Meng decides to fight back and seek revenge. The drama received a fairly positive response following its premiere, with three aspects drawing particular attention in an early review.
1. A Fast-Paced Story Filled With Mystery and Plot Twists
One of The Vanishing Beauty’s main strengths is its fast-moving narrative, which avoids unnecessary delays. Yu Meng spends only the first half of the opening episode enjoying her life as a happy wife. Coming from a wealthy family, she believes she is fortunate to have the perfect marriage.
Her confidence collapses when she receives intimate photos of her husband with a female assistant at his company. Yu Meng immediately realizes that something is wrong with her marriage and begins looking for a way to expose Di Liren’s deception.
By the second episode, Yu Meng discovers that her husband is having an affair with Wen Xiaoxiao (Yi Mengling), a woman working at Di Liren’s company. She subsequently seeks help from Jiao Xu (Chang Huasen), a divorce lawyer, to deal with the situation.
However, Di Liren’s betrayal turns out to be far more complicated than she initially imagined. In the third episode, viewers learn that he is also involved with Hui Jie (Wang Jiajia), a woman who has worked as a domestic helper in Yu Meng’s family home for years. Hui Jie even has a child with Di Liren, and the two are plotting to cheat Yu Meng out of her family’s entire fortune.
These successive revelations keep the story full of surprises. Each episode introduces new questions, from the progress of Di Liren’s scheme to the true nature of his relationship with Hui Jie.
The combination of marital conflict, betrayal, and mystery is one of the drama’s biggest strengths. The suspenseful endings also leave viewers eager to discover what happens next.
2. An Unexpected Alliance Between Two Women
The Vanishing Beauty also takes a different approach to the relationship between a wife and her husband’s mistress. After discovering the affair, Yu Meng does not immediately confront Wen Xiaoxiao or become embroiled in a prolonged argument with her.
Wen Xiaoxiao initially approaches Di Liren because she hopes to use their relationship to advance her career. However, after realizing that he offers nothing but empty promises, she begins reconsidering her options.
Yu Meng then offers Wen Xiaoxiao the position she wants. The offer persuades Wen Xiaoxiao to switch sides and support Yu Meng. The two women form an alliance based on their respective interests and begin secretly gathering evidence to bring Di Liren down.
Rather than relying on the familiar rivalry between a wife and her husband’s mistress, the drama shows how two women can work together when they realize they are both dealing with a manipulative man.
This approach reinforces Yu Meng’s journey toward reclaiming control of her own life. Instead of remaining a victim of betrayal, she uses her intelligence and strategic thinking to fight back against those attempting to take advantage of her.
3. Li Yitong and Chang Huasen’s Chemistry Becomes a Highlight
Beyond its surprising twists, the relationship between Yu Meng and Jiao Xu is another aspect attracting attention. Yu Meng may appear spoiled, but she is actually intelligent and capable of handling problems with a clear head. Once she discovers the deception behind her marriage, she focuses on planning her next move.
Yu Meng meets Jiao Xu, a renowned divorce lawyer, at a bar. He accidentally overhears her discussing her marital problems during a phone call. After realizing that she is the influencer Yu Meng, he approaches her and offers his professional services.
Their encounter marks the beginning of their relationship. Jiao Xu eventually becomes an important ally who helps Yu Meng confront her husband and rebuild her life. As the story progresses, their relationship also opens the door to a potential romance.
Off-screen, the seven-year age difference between Li Yitong and Chang Huasen has also become a talking point. Li Yitong brings an elegant, mature, and intelligent presence to her role, while Chang Huasen has a youthful and fresh appearance, complemented by his gentle gaze.
Chang Huasen’s use of his natural speaking voice has also received praise. Viewers have complimented the pair’s chemistry in their early scenes, particularly the dynamic between a more mature woman and a younger man.
The combination of Yu Meng’s determination to seek revenge and Jiao Xu’s role as her steadfast supporter makes their developing relationship one of the drama’s most anticipated elements.
The Vanishing Beauty blends revenge, marital intrigue, and romance through three standout elements highlighted in its early reception: a fast-paced story packed with surprises, an unexpected alliance between two women, and the chemistry between Li Yitong and Chang Huasen. Together, these elements give the drama an engaging premise centered on a woman fighting to take control of her own life.
