LayarHijau – Chinese drama A Prophet (我不是大师) held a fan event in Beijing on September 29, with leads Li Xian and Li Yitong attending to promote the new series and share stories from their personal lives.
Li Xian appeared in costume from the drama, wearing a plain changshan (a traditional long robe for men) and magua (a traditional jacket). The simple outfit highlighted his handsome appearance.
Li Yitong, meanwhile, wore a dark printed halter-neck cheongsam, giving her an elegant look that suited the drama’s Republican-era setting.
Li Xian and Li Yitong Reunite Nearly 10 Years After Their First Collaboration
During the event, Li Xian and Li Yitong also talked about working together again after nearly a decade.
The two actors first worked together in the drama Sword Dynasty (剑王朝). Li Xian said he could clearly feel how much both of them had grown over the years.
“Everyone has gotten better, and our acting has become more mature. You can really feel that through working together,” Li Xian said.
Li Yitong then talked about how Li Xian has changed outside of acting. She admitted that she never expected him to become such a travel enthusiast.
She said Li Xian now loves traveling and birdwatching, adding that she was quite envious of his hobbies. She even suggested that they should arrange a trip together sometime.
Li Xian Was Once Scammed When Buying a Used Camera
In keeping with A Prophet’s theme of exposing different types of scams, the two leads also shared stories about being deceived in real life.
Li Xian recalled being scammed when he bought a used camera.
The seller had claimed that the camera was “99 percent new,” but Li Xian later discovered that it was actually a refurbished unit.
He ultimately had to take a considerable financial loss before he was able to return the camera to the original seller.
Li Yitong Once Had Her Fortune Told About a Project
Li Yitong, meanwhile, shared a story involving fortune-telling and a professional opportunity.
She revealed that she once had her fortune told to find out whether she would be able to join a particular project.
The result was very positive. She was repeatedly told that she could accept the offer and take part in the project.
However, the project team had also consulted a fortune teller about the same matter and received the opposite result. According to their reading, Li Yitong was not supposed to join the project.
She ultimately went ahead with the project anyway. When she later discussed the matter with the team, they discovered something unexpected.
“We talked about it and only then found out that we had consulted the same fortune teller,” Li Yitong said.
The two stories became highlights of the event promoting A Prophet, particularly because they echoed the drama’s focus on scams and the challenge of distinguishing truth from deception.
