LayarHijau – Miles Wei has opened up about the appeal of older men and his character Fu Mingyu in Blossom Through the Cloud (《飞到我心上》), in which he stars alongside Liu Xiening.
In an interview with Sohu Entertainment, Miles was asked about the appeal of playing an older male character, a type of role he has yet to explore much in his career. He admitted that he would be interested in taking on such a role because he believes older men have a particular kind of charm.

For Miles, the biggest appeal of an older man is the sense of security he can provide to his partner.
“The biggest charm is being able to give someone a strong sense of security, while quietly protecting and supporting her from behind the scenes,” Miles said.
He also believes an older man can serve as a guiding presence in a relationship. However, he stressed that guidance should not mean telling a partner what to do.
“Rather than telling her what she has to do, he can explain what might happen if she makes that choice and what difficulties she may encounter,” he explained.
In Miles’ view, that kind of support can make a woman feel more at ease. Even when she chooses to take a certain path and runs into difficulties along the way, the man can still be there to support her and help her through them.
That perspective is particularly interesting when compared with Fu Mingyu, Miles’ character in Blossom Through the Cloud. Fu is possessive and easily jealous when it comes to Ruan Siyan, played by Liu Xiening.
Asked who is more jealous, himself or Fu Mingyu, Miles admitted that his character is far more prone to jealousy. Fu can become jealous when Ruan Siyan gets too close to another man or even simply spends time in the same space with one.
Fu is also extremely clingy. According to Miles, his character can show his jealousy openly or keep it bottled up.
Miles, however, says he is different. When he gets jealous, he tends to keep his feelings to himself at first and try to suppress them. That said, he admitted that if those feelings build up too much, they can eventually boil over.
Another major difference lies in the way they speak. Fu Mingyu can be quite sharp-tongued, particularly early in the story, while Miles admitted that he would not be able to speak to people as bluntly as his character does.
Fu and Ruan Siyan also frequently trade barbs, with both characters capable of giving as good as they get. Their sharp exchanges become part of the dynamic between the two characters.
When asked who is better at providing emotional support, Miles said he and Fu Mingyu are fairly evenly matched. If he had to choose, however, he would give his character the edge.
Miles explained that Fu is highly observant and good at understanding what the people around him need. His strong financial position also gives him the means to show his care and support through his actions.
Fu is therefore not simply a dominant and possessive male lead. He is also someone who knows how to make his partner feel cared for, both through what he says and what he does.
While Miles acknowledges that he shares certain traits with the elite, dominant male characters he has played over the years, he emphasized that he is not exactly the same as them. Through Fu Mingyu, he once again takes on a mature male character who is dominant and protective, easily jealous, yet capable of providing his partner with a strong sense of security and emotional support.
