LayarHijau – Chinese actress Jing Tian and crypto billionaire Justin Sun Yuchen remain at the center of a growing controversy after Sun publicly revealed details about their past relationship, including their alleged plans to marry, discussions about surrogacy in the United States and a multimillion-dollar dowry.
In a lengthy post on X on August 27, Sun claimed that he had been in a relationship with Jing Tian and that the two had discussed getting married. He also alleged that he gave 30 million yuan, roughly US$4.2 million, to Jing Tian’s parents as a traditional Chinese bride price.

The relationship ultimately ended, however, and Sun said he has since taken legal action to recover the money. His lawyer has also confirmed that legal proceedings involving more than 30 million yuan have been filed.
The size of the alleged dowry quickly became a talking point among Chinese internet users, with some mocking Sun as being “stingy” for seeking to recover the money after the relationship fell apart.
The reaction became even more ironic because the US$4.2 million dowry was worth considerably less than the price Sun once paid for a banana.
In November 2024, Sun spent approximately US$6.2 million on Comedian, Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan’s famous artwork consisting of a banana duct-taped to a wall. The work was sold at Sotheby’s for US$5.2 million before fees, bringing the final price to about US$6.2 million.
Sun later ate the banana himself during a press event at Hong Kong’s Peninsula Hotel on November 29, 2024, after making headlines with his multimillion-dollar purchase.
That means the alleged 30 million yuan dowry for Jing Tian was only about two-thirds of what Sun paid for the famous banana artwork.
Sun also shared details about how his relationship with Jing Tian allegedly began. According to his account, the two met at the Rosewood Hong Kong in late November 2025 and subsequently started dating.
He claimed that during their first meeting, he showed Jing Tian the artwork he had acquired at auction. The unusual story has since become one of the most widely discussed details surrounding his account of their relationship.
Another major claim involved egg retrieval and their alleged plans for surrogacy in the United States. Sun said their relationship eventually ended after he refused to pay US$50 million in connection with Jing Tian’s egg retrieval.
The claims have sparked intense discussion online, particularly because of the enormous sums of money mentioned in Sun’s account. Reports have also described the dispute as involving more than 30 million yuan and linked it to the alleged bride price paid to Jing Tian’s family.
Sun, the founder of TRON, has long been a controversial figure in the cryptocurrency world. His extravagant spending and publicity-generating stunts have frequently attracted international attention.
His purchase of Comedian for US$6.2 million remains one of his most memorable publicity moments. He later drew further attention by eating the banana in front of journalists and influencers, turning an already bizarre art purchase into an even bigger media spectacle.
Meanwhile, Jing Tian has also addressed the controversy from her own perspective. In a statement, the actress said she has never sold, and would never sell, her love or soul for money.
She also acknowledged that although she still believes in love, she has not always been good at choosing the right person and lacks wisdom when it comes to relationships.
Despite the escalating dispute, Jing Tian said she continues to believe in the law, justice and fairness.
