Photos of Zhang Linghe’s cameo have recently surfaced online. In one of the leaked photos, he is dressed entirely in white, sitting at a stone table and studying a Go board.
Despite his relaxed appearance, Zhang Linghe gives off an imposing and mysterious aura. His white costume also drew praise from netizens, with many describing him as “handsome and dashing.”
Although his appearance has attracted considerable attention, Zhang Linghe is only making a cameo in Mount Emei. Wu Junting and Liu Lin are the drama’s main cast, while Zhang Linghe appears in just one of its six story arcs.
Mount Emei is a costume wuxia drama that combines mystery, local culture, and legends associated with Mount Emei. The story follows Xixin, a laid-back “Palace God” who lives at Xixin Suo on Mount Emei.
His peaceful life is disrupted when the head of the Qin family mysteriously dies during a ritual gathering. The evidence points to Xixin as the culprit, forcing him to team up with Lu Wujio, a newly appointed constable in Luomu Town, to uncover the truth.
Their investigation eventually leads them to a secret surrounding a curse on the Qin family and the “Number One Evil God Under Heaven” (天下第一邪神).
The drama also has an unusual concept, incorporating 29 historic temples and structures on Mount Emei into its fictional world. Alongside its wuxia and mystery elements, the series features martial arts, Zen culture, tea traditions, legends surrounding the ancient structures, and the distinctive scenery of Mount Emei.
Mount Emei is directed by Xu Jizhou and Qiu Zhongwei, with Yang Xia serving as both screenwriter and producer. The drama is jointly produced by the China Media Group’s Film, Television and Documentary Center, the Publicity Department of the Emeishan Municipal Party Committee, and Emeishan Zhen Dan Film & Television Culture.
Filming began in Emeishan, Sichuan, on May 26, 2026. Mount Emei is scheduled to premiere in 2026 on CCTV-1 and will also stream on CCTV Video and CCTV.com. The drama consists of 40 episodes, with each episode running approximately 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Zhang Linghe has also been preparing for his next major costume drama. On August 24, he was spotted in Hengdian for a costume fitting and was reportedly set to attend the opening ceremony for Revenge (《刺棠》), one of his upcoming starring projects.
With his schedule remaining packed, Zhang Linghe continues to take on a steady stream of costume drama roles. In Mount Emei, however, viewers will only see him in a cameo role, appearing as the Evil God who serves as the master of Wu Junting’s character.
