Liu Qing’s career later took another important step with Lucky Strike (吉天照).
The drama was Yu Zheng’s first short-drama production.

For Liu Qing, working with Yu Zheng offered him a different experience because of the more professional and structured production process.
“First of all, the filming was very professional and the process was very clear,” Liu Qing said.
He also praised Yu Zheng for the way he treated actors.
“After I signed with Mr. Yu, he was like a parent. He helped me discover a lot of things within myself,” Liu Qing said.
According to the actor, Yu Zheng also introduced him to experienced performers so that he could learn from them and communicate with them.
“He takes care of an artist’s development from every angle,” Liu Qing said.
He felt that Yu Zheng gave him confidence while also pointing out the areas where he needed to improve.
“If there was a problem, he would point it out. When he talked me through a scene, he was also very thorough, like a parent,” he said.
The Rounders Took Him Into Male-Oriented Short Dramas
Another important development came when Liu Qing starred in The Rounders (千局神算).
The project marked his first short drama aimed at a male audience.
Most of Liu Qing’s previous short dramas had primarily targeted female viewers.
He explained that the difference goes beyond the target audience and extends to the way the stories are structured.
“They’re different. The perspectives are different, and so are the audiences. Female-oriented dramas emphasize emotions, while male-oriented dramas put more emphasis on the story,” Liu Qing explained.
In The Rounders, Liu Qing played Qin Feng, a highly intelligent man who values loyalty and emotional bonds but can also be somewhat blunt and rigid.
For Liu Qing, understanding a character begins with identifying the character’s defining traits.
“He’s a very smart person. He values loyalty and relationships, and sometimes he’s quite straightforward. You first establish the character’s defining traits, and then you bring them to life,” he said.
