LayarHijau— The atmosphere at Qingdao Movie Metropolis turned electric as Xiao Zhan appeared in a long black trench coat for the commencement ceremony of his latest drama. The project, titled The Infinite 10 Days, is an adaptation of a top-tier suspense IP that masterfully blends time loop elements with intense psychological warfare. Jointly produced by Tencent Video and Linmon Media, this series features Xiao Zhan as the protagonist Qi Xia, a psychological expert trapped in a deadly puzzle. With its 10-day countdown concept, the show is poised to become a new benchmark for the suspense genre in 2026.
Xiao Zhan’s presence on set immediately ignited global interest, particularly after he delivered the character’s iconic line. “My name is Qi Xia, and I am about to start lying,” he stated, a phrase that instantly trended across social media platforms. To portray this complex role, Xiao Zhan reportedly spent three months studying criminal psychology literature. He engaged in deep discussions with the screenwriting team to refine the character’s logic, showcasing a level of craftsmanship that stands out in today’s fast-paced production environment.

Behind the lens, the production is helmed by director Derek Hui, who is widely acclaimed for his work on the hit drama “I Am Nobody”. Derek Hui’s expertise in directing high-rated masterpieces and his signature dynamic storytelling are expected to bring a unique visual flair to this series. Known for his immersive techniques, Hui is tasked with bringing to life a narrative that has topped the Douban suspense charts for 47 consecutive weeks, ensuring the adaptation maintains the intensity of the source material.
The strength of The Infinite 10 Days lies not only in its lead but also in its formidable ensemble cast. The drama features Wei Daxun and Hu Xianxu as special leads, supported by talented actors including Li Zhiting, Li Zefeng, Vanda Margraf, Qiu Tian, Xing Jiadong, Li Sheng, Zhang Yitong, Liu Jiayi, Mao Xiaohui, Liang Chao, and Mao Xiaotong in a friendship appearance. This synergy between veteran actors and rising stars is expected to breathe life into the complex character dynamics required for such a high-stakes psychological thriller.
Adding to the visual spectacle, the visual effects team from the blockbuster film The Wandering Earth has joined to construct a memory maze space where reality and illusion intertwine. In addition to narrative innovation, the drama introduces technological breakthroughs through a multi-dimensional content development model. Viewers will be able to interact via a puzzle-solving game developed through a smartphone mini-program using AR technology. This innovation has already proven effective, with sales of the original novel surging by 300 percent following the production announcement.
Beyond the tension of the plot, The Infinite 10 Days explores profound themes of human redemption and self-reconciliation. The producers revealed that every character faces moral dilemmas, pointing toward the positive theme that “lies will eventually be exposed, and only the truth can heal the soul.” Interestingly, the production incorporates local cultural elements from Qingdao, such as a key prop called the memory hourglass crafted using traditional Shandong glass-making techniques. This combination of genre innovation and cultural consciousness provides a new blueprint for balancing entertainment with social value.
