LayarHijau β Following the success of The First Frost (ιΎε), discussions about a possible second collaboration between Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan continue to gain traction. LayarHijau previously reported that rumors about the two being paired again in a new drama had briefly trended on Weibo. Several Chinese entertainment accounts and production sources claim that the new drama would be produced by the same team behind The First Frost (ιΎε). The project is reportedly titled Take My Boss Away (εΏ«ζζθζΏεΈ¦θ΅°), an urban fantasy series centered on a role-reversal concept.

In The First Frost (ιΎε), Bai Jingting portrayed Sang Yan, a character known for his dominant presence, confidence, and natural leadership in the relationship. Zhang Ruonan, meanwhile, played Wen Yifan, whose personality was defined by quiet gentleness and restrained emotional depth. Their contrasting dynamic became one of the dramaβs main attractions.
However, in Take My Boss Away (εΏ«ζζθζΏεΈ¦θ΅°), that dynamic is rumored to be reversed. According to circulating reports, Zhang Ruonan is expected to take on the role of Jiang Xiaoyi, while Bai Jingting is rumored to portray Ye Zhen.
The series is adapted from the novel of the same name by Ye Feiran. The story follows Jiang Xiaoyi, a woman who has long considered herself unlucky. She works under Ye Zhen, a perfectionist and highly critical boss who frequently points out flaws in her work, from major office matters to minor details.
An unexpected incident sends both of them into a parallel reality where their positions are completely reversed. Jiang Xiaoyi suddenly becomes a powerful executive, while Ye Zhen is reduced to an ordinary employee. In the novel, Jiang Xiaoyi initially enjoys the chance to βget backβ at her former superior, but their relationship gradually develops into something more complex.
After a series of events in the parallel world, the two eventually return to their original reality. With Ye Zhen regaining authority, their relationship shifts in a new emotional direction.
News of the potential reunion has sparked excitement online. βNo matter what genre or character setup it is, as long as theyβre acting together again, Iβll be watching,β one netizen wrote. Another commented, βTheir chemistry is incredible. Itβs not forced sweetness; it feels natural.β Others added that they hope to see the pair continue delivering romance that feels sweet without being excessive.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding casting or production schedules.
