LayarHijau — Actor Liu Yuning has finally addressed netizens’ hopes of seeing him collaborate with actress Bai Lu in a drama project. He shared his response during a livestream on February 6, 2026, following their interaction at Weibo Night 2026.
Attention on Liu Yuning and Bai Lu resurfaced after they appeared together on stage at Weibo Night 2025 to receive the Annual Popular Actor/Actress (年度受欢迎演员) awards. During his livestream, Liu Yuning revealed that he had read comments from netizens asking when the two would collaborate, especially after repeatedly winning the same award categories. These remarks referred to their consecutive wins, including Screaming Actor/Actress at iQIYI Scream Night 2025 and Annual Popular Actor/Actress at Weibo Night 2025 and 2026.

“The moment I read that comment, my forehead started sweating. I thought, what if I actually starred in a drama with Bai Lu,” Liu Yuning said. “The one thing that would definitely exist in that drama is haters. I think it would become an easy target for them.”
He continued joking that some people might accuse him of deliberately relying on haters to help the drama break viewership records. The actor, known for his role in The Prisoner of Beauty (折腰), emphasized that his remarks were merely analogies and jokes and should not be taken too seriously. What he was certain of, he added, was that such a drama would never lack popularity—whether in the form of positive resonance or negative backlash.
Rumors about a potential collaboration between the two have circulated since late November 2025, when speculation suggested that Liu Yuning might take on the male lead role in the historical romance drama Just in Time for the Continuous Rain, which is set to be led by Bai Lu.
Responding to Liu Yuning’s joke about haters, a Weibo user commented on February 6, 2026, that although both stars have a large number of detractors—sometimes reaching tens of thousands—they have consistently proven their success. According to the user, both Liu Yuning and Bai Lu are actors capable of carrying a drama, and the more criticism they face, the more successful they become.
