LayarHijau– The final episode of Love on the Turquoise Land was officially released to general audiences on December 11, 2025, and its closing moments left viewers buzzing with questions. Episode 32 introduces two mysterious figures whose sudden appearance raises doubts about who they are—and whether the drama is quietly laying groundwork for a second season.

Spoiler warning: this article contains major finale spoilers.

As previously reported by LayarHijau, the finale picks up after the brutal battle between the Nan Mountain Hunters and the earth demons (di xiao). Nie Jiuluo (played by Dilraba Dilmurat) is revived at the bottom of the river, but when Yan Tuo (Oliver Chen) brings her back, she suffers from short-term memory loss.

She no longer remembers anything that happened over the past few months, including the deadly clash at the Jinmen Gate—or who Yan Tuo truly is. A gripping confrontation between the two finally triggers the return of her memories.

The following day, Nie Jiuluo expresses her desire to visit her mother at the Jinmen Gate. Yan Tuo goes with her, and the reunion—her mother now transformed into the White Ghost—unfolds as one of the most emotional moments of the episode.

Yan Tuo also explains that whatever Nie Jiuluo experienced beneath the river healed every wound on her body. More intriguingly, her artistic talent has surged to an extraordinary level, allowing her to sculpt intricate and mesmerizing pieces.

Her dream of holding a solo exhibition finally becomes reality. During the showcase, Manager Lu is seen speaking with a tall, long-haired man wearing glasses. The man—an unfamiliar figure—reveals that he wants to purchase Nie Jiuluo’s works. Not just one or two pieces, but the entire collection.

The finale then shifts to a tender moment between Nie Jiuluo and Yan Tuo. When he asks what she would do if the earth demons were to return, Nie Jiuluo admits that she once chose to run away because she was naïve and chasing an ideal life. Now that she has found the life she longed for, she vows to protect it fiercely from anyone—or anything—that threatens it. Yan Tuo responds that he wants her to take him along, whether it is for the peaceful life she dreams of or a desperate fight against the earth demons.

The drama ends with a phone call from the mysterious long-haired man who bought all her sculptures. He reports to someone he calls “Grandfather,” the one who instructed him to acquire the entire collection. But the grandfather only cares about one piece—the masterpiece shaped like a throne.

When asked why he wants it, the grandfather says the sculpture reminds him of his homeland. At his age, he admits, he gets sentimental easily. Though the drama does not explain the origin of the throne-like sculpture, its design strongly resembles objects associated with the Jinmen Gate.

This final exchange raises the biggest question of all: Who is this grandfather whose memories of “home” are reflected in a sculpture linked to the Jinmen Gate? Is he another earth demon like Li Xinruo—or something entirely different?

Unfortunately, Episode 32 ends with the conversation between the grandfather and his grandson. These two mysterious figures actually appear in chapter 161 of the story. The young man’s name is Yan Xianyi, but the identity of the grandfather remains unexplained.

This naturally fuels speculation: is the production team setting the stage for a second season?

For now, there is no official announcement. The drama has only just concluded. But considering the success of Love on the Turquoise Land, it would not be surprising if Tencent Video shows interest in continuing the story. If a new season moves forward, it would rely on an entirely original script, allowing the writers to expand the mythology and explore what comes next for Nie Jiuluo and Yan Tuo.

Whether they face the earth demons again—or encounter an even more formidable threat—remains a mystery.

Besides the theory that the series might continue with a second season, LayarHijau’s findings indicate that Grandpa Yan is actually an important character in another Wei Yu novel, Flesh and Bone Cage. This has led to a new fan theory suggesting that Yan Xianxi’s appearance may serve as a narrative bridge to the upcoming drama adaptation of Flesh and Bone Cage.

Editor’s note:

In our earlier article, we stated that the two mysterious characters who appear at the end of the drama do not exist in the original novel. Upon further review, we found that both characters do appear in the novel’s final chapter. However, although they are present, the grandfather’s identity remains unexplained in the novel.
