LayarHijau – The drama Love’s Ambition (许我耀眼), starring Zhao Lusi as Xu Yan and William Chan as Shen Haoming, has just aired its ending, and three major changes from the original novel have earned widespread praise from viewers. The series achieved over 1.2 billion views and ranked second on Taiwan Netflix. Xu Yan (Zhao Lusi) and Shen Haoming’s (William Chan) divorce ending rewritten
In the novel, Shen Haoming, a wealthy and ambitious man, is unfaithful and involved with Fang Lei (Zhong Yating) during his marriage to Xu Yan, ultimately leading to divorce. In the drama, Shen Haoming realizes his love for Xu Yan during the divorce process and does everything he can to win her back. Xu Yan, who had been hurt, gradually repairs her heart, and they reconcile and become business partners. This change has been widely praised by netizens for making the story sweeter and more believable.
Qiao Lin’s (Wan Peng) sudden death removed
Qiao Lin, Xu Yan’s sister, originally faced a tragic fate in the novel: she became pregnant by her ex-boyfriend Lin Tao (Guan Zijing) and eventually died under the pressure of rumors. In the drama, with Xu Yan’s support, Qiao Lin leaves Lin Tao behind and starts a new life, happily living with her high school classmate Yu Yiming (Tang Xiaotian). Viewers appreciated this change, giving her a positive and realistic ending.
Fang Lei’s (Zhong Yating) role revised
Fang Lei remains an antagonist who attempts to sabotage Xu Yan and Shen Haoming’s marriage, but her interference is less extreme than in the novel. While she still causes conflict, the drama makes her impact more moderate, which allows viewers to enjoy the main romance without excessive distraction. Netizens agreed that this adjustment made the storyline more balanced and logical.
Overall, the drama adaptation of Love’s Ambition successfully retains the essence of the story while implementing several changes that made the ending satisfying and enjoyable for viewers. The three main adjustments—Shen Haoming and Xu Yan’s reconciliation, Qiao Lin’s positive outcome, and the moderated role of Fang Lei—have been widely praised online.
