Every year, Douyin releases a list of dramas that have earned the title of “爆款陆剧” or top-hit dramas based on viewing performance. In previous years, dramas like The Tale of Rose (玫瑰的故事), Till the End of the Moon (长月烬明), and Destined (墨雨云间) made the list. In 2025, only six dramas have officially been recognized by Douyin so far.
It’s important to note that the view counts reported by Douyin do not reflect full episodes streamed on the platform. The numbers represent total views of drama-related content, such as official clips, trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, and fan edits. These six dramas made the official Douyin list because each recorded over 100 billion views and even reached a real-time popularity index above 300 million, proving that social media virality is now as important as TV ratings and streaming numbers.

The six dramas on Douyin’s official list this year are The First Frost (难哄) starring Bai Jingting, This Thriving Land (生万物) featuring Yang Mi, Legend of Zang Hai (藏海传) with Xiao Zhan, Moonlight Mystique (白月梵星) by Bai Lu, and Six Sisters (六姊妹) starring Mei Ting. All of them surpassed 100 billion views on Douyin and recorded real-time popularity indices above 300 million.
Besides these six new dramas, Chinese netizens also compiled a list of “Douyin Certified Hit Dramas” with the highest total views over the past few years, as reported by Beauty321.com:
At rank 10 is Mysterious Lotus Casebook (莲花楼) starring Cheng Yi and Zeng Shunxi. This wuxia-mystery drama earned over 206 billion views on Douyin and became a hit thanks to its tightly woven storyline and strong lead chemistry.
Rank 9 is Always on the Move (南来北往) starring Bai Jingting, Ding Yongdai, and Jin Chen with 224 billion views. Set in the 1970s and directed by Zheng Xiaolong, the drama explores human relationships through the world of trains and received widespread critical praise.
Rank 8 goes to Destined (墨雨云间) featuring Wu Jinyan and Wang Xingyue, which reached 251 billion views. This revenge-themed drama, adapted from Qianshan Chake’s novel, was a breakout hit in 2024.
At rank 7, Zhao Liying and Lin Gengxin star in The Legend of Shen Li (与凤行) with 280 billion views. This xianxia drama tells the love story between a female ruler of the spirit world and a wandering deity, enhanced by stunning visual effects and scenic filming locations.
Rank 6 is the first season of Lost You Forever (长相思) starring Yang Zi and Zhang Wanyi. This fantasy drama recorded 287 billion views, driven by family intrigue, romance, and friendship.
Rank 5 is Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (永夜星河) starring Yu Shuxin and Ding Yuxi, reaching 306 billion views. The story of “entering a novel world” was praised for its fresh humor and the chemistry of the main couple.
Rank 4 is Joy of Life 2 (庆余年 第二季), the sequel to the legendary drama starring Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin, with 307 billion views. Despite being a follow-up, the quality remained consistent with political intrigue full of surprises.
Rank 3 goes to Till the End of the Moon (长月烬明) starring Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu with 316 billion views. This xianxia drama gained popularity for its story of love and sacrifice between the protagonist and the “demon lord.”
Rank 2 is The Tale of Rose (玫瑰的故事), which cemented Liu Yifei as a public favorite for her role as Huang Yimei. This romantic drama with dynamic twists recorded 451 billion views.
The top spot is held by The Knockout (狂飙), a crime drama starring Zhang Yi and Zhang Songwen, which recorded 943 billion views on Douyin. Its popularity far surpassed other dramas, making it a phenomenon in the Chinese drama market.
The “Douyin Certified Hit Dramas” phenomenon shows that, besides TV ratings and streaming numbers, social media influence—especially on Douyin—has become a benchmark for modern Chinese drama success.
