LayarHijau – The costume-mystery drama Coroner’s Diary (朝雪录), starring Ao Ruipeng and Li Landi, became one of the biggest surprise hits of this summer, reaching a total of 1.735 billion views. Recently, the production team held a wrap-up celebration party, showcasing the sweet moments between the two actors. Their on-screen chemistry has captivated fans, with many hoping the pair could reunite in a new project.

Ao Ruipeng had already gained recognition from the costume-fantasy drama Moonlight Mystique (白月梵星) alongside Bai Lu, but the success of Coroner’s Diary further solidified his position as one of the young actors capable of drawing massive audience attention.

At the celebration party, Ao Ruipeng wore a white shirt paired with dark jeans, while Li Landi chose a dark brown top and jeans. Standing close together and posing with a “V” sign, the pair’s height difference—188 cm versus 163 cm, a 25 cm gap—became the highlight, instantly attracting social media attention. The adorable height contrast quickly trended on Weibo, with many netizens calling for another collaboration between the two, Upmedia reported.

Initially, Ao Ruipeng and Li Landi were expected to reunite in the modern-romance drama My Queen, My Rules (不二之臣). However, disagreements over the actors’ billing order (fanwei) delayed Li Landi’s confirmation. Eventually, the production officially announced that Shen Yujie, who previously played Li Landi’s character’s friend in Coroner’s Diary, would take over the female lead role.

The change disappointed many Ao Ruipeng–Li Landi fans. “It’s such a shame. Their chemistry in Coroner’s Diary was amazing. We were hoping to see them together again in a new drama,” wrote a popular comment on Weibo.

My Queen, My Rules, adapted from a novel by Bu Zhishi Ke Cai, tells the story of a contract-marriage romance between the charismatic CEO Cen Sen (Ao Ruipeng) and the wealthy, strong-willed Ji Mingshu (Shen Yujie). After their marriage, Cen Sen travels to Australia to expand his overseas business and only returns to China three years later. Upon his return, Ji Mingshu confronts him with a divorce agreement. Cen Sen calmly holds the paper down, reminding her that she can no longer enjoy yachts or villas if they divorce. Their witty back-and-forth eventually develops into a romantic cohabitation story full of tension and love.

With Shen Yujie officially as Ao Ruipeng’s co-star, My Queen, My Rules has already attracted attention even before filming begins. Audiences are now eager to see whether this new pairing can rival the on-screen magnetism of Ao Ruipeng and Li Landi in Coroner’s Diary.
